Together shows an adorable pair of classic Wachtmeister cats facing one another and looking out at us with little half smiles. The faces of these black-and-white cats are white on one half, with a black ear, and gold on the other half. One cat has a little pink blush on its face and has amber eyes. The other has blue eyes. Above them is a glorious gold sunburst.

The themes celebrated in Wachtmesiter's art include love and romance, family, music, and of course sun, moon and stars.

This artist is not ashamed to use cliches such as roses to symoblize romantic love, but instead fills her paintings with such associations. In this way, a Wachtmeister painting expresses an emotion as much as a scene. The happy feline family is warmed by a smiling sun, the courting couple see a wonderful, star-filled landscape.

The cats themselves are painted in a style almost reminiscent of Picasso and their faces have a human quality as a result of the nose or the half smile. In some paintings the sun too has this human-like face. These are not portraits of cats so much as they are a painting of joy, wonder and connection.

Romance shows a larger cat and a smaller cat sitting beneath beautiful blue-flowered trees. They each have the signature half-smile and gold patch on half of their faces, with a pink blush on the other half. Part of the foreground is also gold.

This pretty pair of cats in Two Friends sit among the daisies soaking up the warmth of the great golden sun above them. From the black coat with white forelegs of the one and the blue-gray and white coat of the other, I'd say these were the same cats that Wachtmeister painted in Romance above.

In Perche Lo? a stunning black and silver cat stretches out in a flower garden of bright red poppies and pretty white daisies. There are silver patches in the foreground and background, contrasting with the rich poppy red.
