Ross Rebagliati - the first ever gold medalist in snowboarding
On February 8, 1998, a young Canadian Ross Rebagliati made Olympic history in Nagano, Japan by winning the first ever gold medal in snowboarding.

Ross has been snowboarding since before people were allowed to ride the chair lifts in Canada with snowboards. He designed the board he used to win the gold medal in Nagano in 1998. At the time when he designed the board in 1994 the manufacturers were telling him that the board wouldn't work. Today almost all the top riders are on boards that are derived from Ross' original creation...
Recently, Ross founded - R-A-S-T-A is the exclusive Rebagliati Alpine Snowboard Training Academy - designed to train alpine snowboard racers for the Olympics. The academy operates in Kelowna, British Columbia at Kelowna Mountain.
