Roswell, New Mexico is the county seat of Chavez County in southeastern New Mexico. With over 45,000 people, it is the fifth largest city in the state. With the exception of Native Americans, pioneers from Missouri were the first to settle in the area.Roswell's nickname is the "dairy capital of the world". Other industries include ranching and oil production. Roswell is also home to one of the largest mozzarella manufacturing operations in the world.
Demi Moore and John Denver were both born in Roswell. But Roswell, New Mexico's claim to fame is the alleged UFO crash incident in 1947.
