Mindfulness Moves Us Outside Thoughts
Our lives are full of distractions pulling us first one way and then another. Phones, friends, bosses, traffic, kids, food, TV and on and on. What might surprise you is that while most of these distractions are just happening outside of ourselves the biggest distraction is happening inside ourselves. The biggest distraction is our thoughts.
Here is something to think on, why on earth would I have a picture of a coffee cup on a page about mindfulness?
What is Our Reality
If you take a class in mindfulness the teacher just might hand you a raisin and ask you to put it on your tongue and close your eyes. Let the texture and taste of that raisin become your focus for a couple of minutes. What do you taste and feel and what are your thinking right at that moment?
Sure it may seem flaky and maybe even stupid but what the exercise is all about is shifting your awareness outside its everyday attention. Once you realize your can focus outside of your everyday cares and worries you open up a huge opportunity to see reality as it is.
