Angry Birds are Hot!
Angry Birds is the smartphone app by Rovio Mobile that is turning the gaming world on its head.
Released in December of 2009, it has seen over 12,000,000 downloads in its first year!
In comparison with the big games on the consoles, Angry Birds cost very little to develop and it's cartoon quality brings out the kid in all of us.

An Introduction to Birds and Pigs

You can see from the story that the birds are quite happy with their lives, waiting for their precious eggs to hatch. You can also see that the birds are VERY protective of their incubating brood.
Unfortunately, a curious mosquito lands on an egg. The little bug is then violently dealt with by the now angry birds.
While this is going on, a group of green pigs is eying the eggs with breakfast on their minds. As the mosquito is being dealt a violent and deadly thrashing, the pigs sneak in and steal the entire clutch of eggs.
The birds realize too late that they have lost their future family members and are determined to exact their revenge on the pigs.
The Big, Bad Wolf has got nothing on this flock of furious feathered fiends.

For each level, you are allotted a certain number of birds with which you must destroy all of the pigs.
The more efficient you are, in using as few birds as possible while exacting the most damage, the higher your score and your star ranking.

Got Bird Skills?
Angry Birds isn't just a "hurl and destroy" game. It is designed to test your strategic skills as well. You will need to understand the powerful characteristics of each bird to destroy those green enemy pigs. There are an infinite number of possibilities within each level on how to reach a victorious conclusion. You can also move up a level without having mastered it and getting a 3-star ranking.
A Little Strategy
Just watching the intro In-game trailer , you can see that there is a logic to the game. Look at some of the bounces and think about the "butterfly effect" where it may take a ricochet - a bird bouncing off something else in the screen - to knock down the house.

Not Just Another iPhone App

Originally released as an iPhone app, there are now a number of Smartphones that can run Angry Birds.
According to official blog at Rovio, they are aware of some problems with Android phones running the game. They say are working to correct this. I wouldn't doubt it. They are pushing out Angry Birds on as many platforms as possible right now.
As of November 18th, 2010, the following phones are supported:

* HTC Hero
* HTC Magic/Sapphire/Mytouch 3G
* HTC Tattoo
* HTC Wildfire
* Huawei Ideos/U8150

When Rovio released version 1.4.1 with many new game levels, many people reported serious bugs including fail crashes. They appear to have fixed most of the problems by release version 1.4.4.

Rovio Mobile is also selling through a Nokia Ovi Store and is compatible with the Symbian^3 and the Nokia N900. With the Symbian^3, there is a free release version - Angry Birds Lite v1.2.0 has 6 levels of play, while release v1.2.1 has 105 levels and costs $2.99.
Angry Birds for N900 - Free (v1.4.2) and sells Level packs 1-3 at $1.99 each. Level Packs 1 and 2 include 42 levels of play and Level Pack 3 adds 45 more levels of play."

You'll notice in the Angry Birds Cinematic Trailer that Angry Birds is now available on the Palm Pre, too.

Just when you thought the only place to play Angry Birds was the bathroom, Angry Birds is now available for desktops, laptops, tablets, and netbooks.Now available for your PC running Windows 7 and XP OS via the Intel AppUp center for $9.99. Head on over and see if the $4.99 promo price is still valid.
There are some issues with graphic cards, specifically netbooks that utilize GMA adapters. OpenGL 1.3 is what is needed to launch the game.There is more at the FAQ page at Rovio Mobile.
There are some issues with certain Mac computers as well. The Mac App Store is carrying the game at $9.00 and running the same $4.99 promo as Intel.
There are also indications that Angry Birds will be coming to the gaming consoles soon, too!
Angry Birds - Coming to Television?
According to Rovio's CEO, Mikael Hed, that's the next step for the little app! In an interview with C21 Media, Hed stated that this venture has been his personal focus. Hed mentioned that they are currently in production and we can expect an Angry Birds show to be released as an online exclusive show.
