The Ultimate Virtual Cruise

I have always looked at cruise ships as something for the rich and famous. Lately I have discovered that they are not boring, and that they are not even that expensive! I stumbled upon the site of Royal Carribean Cruise Line, and I saw their videos and presentations of their ships.

Even if you think you are never going to make a cruise, it is real fun to have a look. If you are serious in your plan of booking a cruise, this is the first step to take. I won't spend too much time telling you about the destinations, have a look at the videos first. After the Youtube video on this page, go to the two videos listed under New links, they are great. Have fun!

If you are like me, and you love travel guides and brochures, you'll be just as excited as I am, that Infohub offered to give their Central America and Caribbean guide to the visitors of this lens for Free!

About Royal Carribean Cruise Line

ins and outs, tips and ideas

As you have seen in the video, the daytime activities aboard Royal Caribbean ships are amazingly active. Every Royal Caribbean ship has a rock-climbing wall; many of them have mini-golf courses. Swimming pools are standard and there are even spa and fitness facilities. You'll find ice-skating and roller-skating on some ships.

Royal Caribbean International is of course strong in the Caribbean, but offers cruises in the whole world. Bermuda, Caribbean, Bahamas, the Mexican Riviera and even Alaska and Europe. They recently added Australia and New Zealand to the possibilities. The passengers are North Americans between 30 and 55 on the shorter cruises, and over 50 on the longer cruises. Cruises departing from Europe will obviously attract more European passengers. The shorter cruises are also very popular with families, especially during American school vacation!

Special parties are organized on every trip, like the popular Meet&Mingle Parties, organized together with CruiseCritic (source: Douglas Newman)

Alaska by Cruise Ship: The Complete Guide to Cruising Alaska with Giant Pull-out Map (5th Edition)

This is all you need to plan your time while on your Alaska cruise. I wanted a book that would enable me to make decisions about where to go when in port, what to see, what to not bother with, and how to amuse myself and my family. Like everybody taking a cruise, we wanted to get as much out of it as possible! This book is an indispensable guide to what you will see on your Alaska cruise. It describes the various ports of call, has maps of the towns, suggestions for what to do with your free time, what not to miss. Having this book precluded me from lugging around 3 different books and grabbing all those touristy brochures along the way. Have you chosen Alaska for your cruise destination? Then take this book along. Highly recommended.

Cruise Ship Tycoon

Cruise Ship Tycoon is all about setting up a luxury cruise ship, keeping guests happy and making enough money to improve your ship.

You must first select a ship. There are different decks on which you build the guest rooms, facilities, food and drinks places and entertainment to keep your guests happy.
Then, when you've made bookings, it's time to set sail!
You have to keep your guests happy by fulfilling their needs, and make a bit of money along the way to improve your cruise ship.
The cruises have a few ports, and when the ship stops at the port, you will have a short period to make more bookings and generally improve the ship. But make sure you don't take too long- the guests can get impatient!

As well as the 'freeform' game, there's also a campaign mode with 10 different missions - the tasks for example may involve getting a certain number a guests within a time limit. These missions are quite varied.
Also, there is a 'Career' mode included.

The graphics are quite impressive: you can zoom in and out freely and rotate as you wish, making it possible to view your ship from just about any angle. Watching the guests go about doing their own thing can be quite good fun, as there is alot of detail included.
