Röyksopp
One of 2006's best songs first hit the charts in 2002. Norweigan duo Röyksopp's "Remind Me" has been introduced to millions of new fans as the result of its appearance in a North American television commercial for car insurance from Geico. A further listen reveals that this talented electronic duo has much more to offer, no matter what end of the evolutionary chart you resemble.
The Geico Commercial
"So easy a caveman can do it."
The single "Remind Me" was originally released with "So Easy", which brings to mind Geico's slogan "So easy a caveman can do it". The song is from Royksopp's debut album Melody AM.
Royksopp - Remind Me video and single mix
The single version (Someone Else's Mix) is not as mellow as the album track heard in the Geico commercial. This more energetic mix was also used for the remarkable animated promotional video. The single and album Melody AM were released in Summer 2002, with "Remind Me" reaching #21 on the UK charts. The video was awarded Best Video of 2002 by MTV Europe. The vocals are by Norway's Erlend Oye who also performed vocals on Royksopp's "Poor Leno".
Lyrics to "Remind Me" by Royksopp
It's only been a week
the rush of being home and rapid fading
failing to recall
what I was missing all that time in England
Has sent me aimlessly
on foot or by the help of transportation
to knock on windows where
a friend no longer live, I had forgotten
and everywhere I go
there's always something to remind me
of another place and time
where love that travelled far had found me
We stayed outside till two
waiting for the light to come back
we didn't talk I knew
until you asked what I was thinking
until you asked what I was thinking
brave men tell the truth
the wise man's tools are analogies and puzzles
a woman holds her tongue
knowing silence will speak for her
brave men tell the truth
the wise man's tools are analogies and puzzles
a woman holds her tongue
knowing silence will speak for her
and everywhere I go
there's always something to remind me
of another place and time
where love that travelled far had found me
the rush of being home and rapid fading
failing to recall
what I was missing all that time in England
Has sent me aimlessly
on foot or by the help of transportation
to knock on windows where
a friend no longer live, I had forgotten
and everywhere I go
there's always something to remind me
of another place and time
where love that travelled far had found me
We stayed outside till two
waiting for the light to come back
we didn't talk I knew
until you asked what I was thinking
until you asked what I was thinking
brave men tell the truth
the wise man's tools are analogies and puzzles
a woman holds her tongue
knowing silence will speak for her
brave men tell the truth
the wise man's tools are analogies and puzzles
a woman holds her tongue
knowing silence will speak for her
and everywhere I go
there's always something to remind me
of another place and time
where love that travelled far had found me
