This lens is powered by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Search Engine

Situated on the shores of Lake Erie in downtown Cleveland, Ohio the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame contains remarkable interactive exhibits, films, videos and priceless and poignant artifacts, and serves as host of the permanent Hall of Fame exhibit. In addition the Museum stages a number of temporary exhibits throughout the year, including large-scale exhibits that occupy the top two levels of the building. The Museum also produces programs for the public that include concerts, lectures, panel discussions, film series, teacher education and other events.

33 1/3 Series

from Continuum Press

Now you can get featured titles from the 33 1/3 Series. This series features short books about critically acclaimed and much-loved albums of the past 40 years. We'll highlight selections on your favorite albums from RRHOF inductees.

The Beatles' Let It Be (33 1/3 series)

In this thoroughly researched book, Steve Matteo delves deep into the complex history of these sessions. He talks to a number of people who were in the studio with the Beatles, recording the sights and sounds of the band at work - bringing to life a period in the Beatles' career that was creative and chaotic in equal measure.

Amazon Price: $8.76 (as of 10/12/2008)

The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds (33 1/3)

Pet Sounds is, rightly, one of the most celebrated pop albums ever released. In this disarming book, Jim Fusilli focuses primarily on the emotional core of the album, on Brian Wilson's pitch-perfect cry of despair. In doing so, he brings to life the search for equilibrium and acceptance that still gives Pet Sounds its heart almost four decades after its release.

Amazon Price: $8.76 (as of 10/12/2008)

Led Zeppelin's Led Zeppelin IV (33 1/3)

In this wickedly entertaining and thoroughly informed homage to one of rock music's towering pinnacles, Erik Davis investigates the magic-black or otherwise-that surrounds this album. Carefully peeling the layers from each song, Davis reveals their dark and often mystical roots-and leaves the reader to decide whether [FOUR SYMBOLS] is some form of occult induction or just an inspired, brilliantly played rock album.

Amazon Price: $8.76 (as of 10/12/2008)

Jimi Hendrix's Electric Ladyland (Thirty Three and a Third series)

Perry calls Electric Ladyland the record in which Hendrix "reached his full artistic maturity." It was also the last album he made with manager Chas Chandler and the bassist and drummer who with him had constituted the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Perry recalls the era and how Hendrix fit into it, illuminating such underexamined phenomena as the contention that he was a "psychedelic Uncle Tom." Nice appreciation of an apparently timeless musician and album.

Amazon Price: $8.76 (as of 10/12/2008)

R.E.M.'s Murmur (33 1/3)

R.E.M.'s debut album, released in 1983, was so far removed from the prevailing trends of American popular music that it still sounds miraculous and out of time today. J. Niimi tells the story of the album's genesis - with fascinating input from Don Dixon and Mitch Easter. He also investigates Michael Stipe's hypnotic, mysterious lyrics, and makes the case for Murmur as a work of Southern Gothic art.

Awkward Moments at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 08

After Madonna's induction into the R&R Hall of Fame by Justin Timberlake, instead of singing, she lets none other than Iggy Pop sing 'Ray of Light' on her behalf. The crowd seemed stunned.

Who Would You Boot?

**Please Read Before Voting**

This is a Reverse Plexo! Vote for the inductees that you believe do not belong in the Hall of Fame.

I have seeded this Plexo with the 2006 & 2007 inductees but you can look at the list of inductees and add the ones you think should not be in Hall of Fame by clicking on the "add to this list" button. Remember, you can also vote down which takes a vote away and helps move your favorites back down the list. Just think in reverse. A vote "for" is actually a vote "against". Up is down and all that.

There's always a lot of controversy about some of the inductees to the RRHOF. It essentially comes down to opinion, right? Well, I happen to think that our opinions, the fans, matter most. So here at the RRHOF lens, we get to vote now and we determine who stays and who, figuratively, goes.

OK, off you go...
