What is the RROD?
A brief explanation of what it is and how its caused
The RROD is a problem that affects the XBox 360. The 360 has a warning system which tells you what kind of error your XBox has got. If you look at the picture on top of the page, you will see that 3 lights are lit red. This means that the XBox has suffered a Red Ring Of Death. The 3 lights actually mean a general hardware failure in the XBox 360.
This can be caused by a few things. The main causes are poor soldered connection points on the motherboard. This is due to poor manufacturing of the console. Other causes can be poor ventilation allowing the system to overheat and for the motherboard to flex causing parts to get disjoined.

Well I have not got the RROD yet...
Count yourself lucky if your 360 has not yet had a RROD, assuming it is over a year old. There is not that much you can do to avoid the RROD because some causes are hardware problems strait from manufacturing. However, here are some tips that can help you avoid the RROD:
1. Make sure your XBox 360 is well ventilated
2. Try not to keep your XBox 360 on for too long which can cause it to overheat
3. Keep your XBox 360 in a dust free area so the intake fans do not get blocked
