The Rose and Swan Theatre
Participants, Rose and Swan initiates, know, by the clangour of the cranes, that it is time to form a torchlight procession through the cobbled streets of the Lemurian City of Ladies, towards the timeless Rose and Swan Theatre. They come to perform before Demeter and Persephone, the mother and daughter who take turns living between the underworld and above ground.
The Lemurian City of Ladies is a reincarnation of the lost City of Ladies as envisioned by de Pizan.
The Rose and Swan Theatre
Performers bring their first fruit in the hope that Demeter and Persephone will bless them and bestow them with the power to grow a rich harvest, grow significant bodies of work, work that reveals their authentic selves. And just as they plead to the Corn Goddess as they offer the first fruit of old seed, so after they have reaped a harvest, they bring back yellow sheaves with rejoicing, paying dues in the form of thanksgiving.

Participants in the Rose and Swan Theatre, Rose and Swan initiates, know, by the clangour of the cranes, that it is time to form a torchlight procession through the cobbled streets of the Lemurian City of Ladies, towards the timeless Rose and Swan Theatre. They come to perform before Demeter and Persephone, the mother and daughter who take turns living between the underworld and above ground. It is Demeter by whose power and at whose pleasure the corn either grows or remains hidden in the ground. Demeter is identifiable by the crown of corn she wears on her head. Persephone, whose yellow tresses flow down on her shoulders, sits by her mother's side, waiting to receive the performers who are bringing their first fruit. Persephone is the personification of the young corn sprouting in spring. She is the corn and vine growing, she is an inspiration to artists and writers alike.
Within the Rose and Swan Theatre grain from the chaff of the threshing floors lies scattered across the stage. The place is filled with yellow grain and grasping sheaves of barley and clusters of scarlet poppies. Unripe, green corn hangs from the rafters. It is to this green corn that offerings are made in the spring, when the earth is growing green with fresh vegetation.
First Fruits

The First Fruit Festival at the Swan and Rose is a popular event. It is the time when members of Soul Food's small, fee paying groups, walk on the stage with their freshly filled baskets and present their first fruit to Demeter and Persephone. Give them a round of applause. It takes some courage to present in a public arena like this.
The Well of Mnemosyne

Members of Soul Food's small, fee paying groups work with le Enchanteur, mistress of Lemuria. Their sanctuaries, the Tholos and Pythia are high in the Lemurian Mountain Tops, at the head of the stream of Mnemosyne . Members have been drinking from the stream of Mnemosyne, the waters of Mnemosyne, mother of the Muses, whose name means memory. They come on the back of black Lemurian mares to the theatre and present their memories of Lemuria.

- And the Squid grows. Great lens, Heather. By the way, who did the image of the woman with the long flowing hair. I love it.
