Rubber Ducky

Why ducks? When my son was born, I had a Rubber Ducky-themed shower. Then, for some reason, I received a few Rubber Ducks for Christmas. Since we now have a mini-collection of Rubber Ducks, I decided to learn a bit more about them and share with other Squidoo-ers.

Rubber Duckies for Science

In 1992, a crate of children's floating toys, including rubber ducks, fell off their cargo ship somewhere in the mid-Pacific. When they began showing up along the coast in Sitka, Alaska, Dr. Curtis Ebbesmeyer took notice. He has been tracking the toys ever since and using their journeys to learn more about ocean currents. Rumor has it that The First Years, a toy company, has offered $100 savings bond reward for the recovery of any the remaining toys. I'm working on substantiating that one!
