The Crazy World of Rubik's Cubes
Pretty much everyone has heard of that infamous toy from the 1980s - The Rubik's Cube. Invented by the Hungarian Erno Rubik, this famous toy was originally called the Magic Cube. Along the way, Rubik's cubes have developed a rich history as well as mind bending variants that even expert cubists shake their heads at.
The Classic 3X3 Rubik's cube
What many people consider as the 'classic' Rubik's cube we all know and love is a block with 27 squares, 9 to a face. all the miniature cubes except the 6 center pieces can be moved by sliding in 'layers' either horizontally or vertically. The object of the puzzle is to restore the cube to it's 'solved' state of six solid colored sides.

Would you believe that the minimum number of moves required to solve the rubik's cube from any possible starting configuration is only 25 moves! Sounds easy enough, right?
Every SpeedCuber's Nightmare:

Rubick's Cube Variants: The Pyraminx
The Pyraminx is based on the concept of a Rubik's Cube but instead of having to solve a cube, you have to solve... you guessed it, a pyramid! The Pyraminx is one of the oldest variants to the classic cube and is less challenging, only requiring 11 or less 'twists' to solve.
Rubik's Cube Variant: The MegaMinx or Hungarian Supernova
This huge puzzle block is in the shape of a dodecahedron (12 sides) and comes with either 6 colors that appear twice in paired sides opposite each other or as a puzzle with 12 distinct colors. Although intimidating, the megaminx is technically only slightly more difficult to solve than the classic Rubik's cube. The current world record for solving the megaminx is one minute and seven seconds. wow!
Rubik's Cube Variant : The Dogic
icosahedron puzzle mania
The Dogic is another mindbending combination puzzle with 80 movable pieces compared to the Rubik's 26. The Dogic is a rarer variant and was almost impossible to find until it was re-produced in 2005. Still rare, it is a collector's item as well as a true gamer's joy.
I've included any eBay listings for 'dogic' below, but often there aren't even any for sale on eBay!
