Cars that Run on Water
Although the concept has been mentioned as far back as the 19th century, today's world still hasn't the privilege of seeing a car that actually and truly runs on water. But there is always a chance that this dream car could turn into reality in the future.
Water-Fuelled Cars
People generally describe cars that run on water as vehicles powered by ordinary water. Some people often confuse water-fuelled cars with hydrogen or hydrogen-from-water cars.
Understanding Water's Chemical Energy Composition
Can water truly serve as the only source of fuel for cars? In ordinary cases where fossil fuels are used to power vehicles, water is one of its major waste products during chemical processes.
Energy cannot be created by chemical processes but rather, chemical processes can only seek to store and release energy. Water is wasted in such chemical processes because its energy level is already low and stable. Since powering cars with fuel require the conversion of energy into a lower level, this would be difficult to do with water because of its natural level.

Understanding Water's Nuclear Energy Composition
Nuclear fusion may be utilized in order to create energy from water. This concept, however, hasn't been yet proposed and seriously considered by any of the major supporters of the concept of water-fuelled cars. Furthermore, nuclear fusion power plants themselves haven't yet proved their feasibility.
Cars that Run on Water and Electrolysis
Most proposals regarding water-fuelled cars involve the use of electricity and electrolysis. In most theories and designs, water is first split into oxygen and hydrogen. Afterwards, hydrogen is burned by a common car engine. The energy coming from it will then be a source of battery power and subject more water to electrolysis.
At first glance, this appears more than feasible. But what should be stressed in here is the amount of wasted energy the entire process creates. While you are burning hydrogen to get your car to continue running, various kinds of energy are wasted in different stages of the conversion process. When generating electricity, part of mechanical energy is wasted. When hydrogen is being burnt, heat energy is also negatively affected, and so on.
In the end, your water-fuelled car may still run but not as long as you'd want it to since such a big amount of energy had been wasted.

Converting Water to Fuel
Others propose using a gas pill of sorts to convert ordinary water into a usable form of fuel for your car. This theory has actually been tried and tested with a full-sized car. It produced positive results, but it was not as significant one would like. The conversion process had still been flawed, with water and its by-products continuing to be used and wasted unnecessarily.
Marketing Campaigns for Water-Fuelled Cars
Now, many con artists are taking advantage of the interest in and controversy surrounding water-fuelled cars. With the use of fake identities and bogus companies, these individuals will describe themselves as being suppressed by oil companies so that their businesses wouldn't be affected.
If you have been approached about this, do keep an open mind and avoid making any decisions without thinking things through. Research about the proposal diligently and do your best to locate the individual's patent rights over the product. This, among other things, will let you know if a car running on water has truly been built.
