Can Water Power A Car? Run a Car on Water For Real or A Scam?

Run car on water has been the latest buzz. Can you really add water to your car? Is water-powered car a miracle or scam?

The rising oil price has put pressure on every household. We won't get immediate relief from auto companies or oil companies. We, as the end consumer, have to do something to stop this insanity.

More and more smart motorists are searching for alternative energy and gas-saving technologies to combat rising oil prices. Recently, there are several Do-It-Yourself (DIY) kits such as Water4Gas, Run Your Car with Water, and Drive With Water Fuel etc claimed to provide such a solution which allow your car runs with water. This article looks into the truth behind these claims and review the law of thermodynamics. Some claims are legitimate, some hypes are simple misleading.

With less than $100 or about the cost of filling one gas tank, a proven working water-gas hybrid system definitely worth to give a try. This article shows you the controversies surround Water-Gas conversion method and discuss pros and cons of water-gas systems.

Run Your Car on Water Is Possible, But Don't Add Water to Gas Tank, Here is Why

A Review of Water-Gas Hybrid Kits - The Facts Behind Water-Gas Kits

There are many ways to increase gas mileage, but the most talked about and the most appealing and controversial gas-saving system is probable "run your car on water".

First, for these who believe run car on water is adding water to gas tank, you need to read this article to learn more. Adding water to gas tank could cause serious damages to your car, water and gas cannot mix. It would cost you thousands of dollars to repair and definitely void your warranty. This is one of the reasons people laughing about "run your car on water".

RUN CAR ON WATER is actually NOT adding water to the gas tank as you might have thought. You need to think out of this box and out of the gas tank.

The secret of adding water to car is to use a "kit" or a "system" to convert water to HHO or Brown's Gas efficiently with the help of baking soda, Potassium Hydroxide (KOH), Sodium Hydroxide and some electricity from your car battery (draws 3 AMPs per cell). the Brown's Gas acts as a stimulus to the gasoline. Brown's Gas and gasoline mix together from two separate paths. HHO acts as an oxidant through air inflow to make gasoline burn more efficiently, it boosts the octane and horse power. Please note, HHO is not replacing gasoline.

This process is similar to Hydrogen Fuel Enhancement to ICE as described by Wiki. Recent academic research and actual implementations such as Water4Gas have supported the evidence that hydrogen injection to ICE effectively increase auto efficiency and reduce emission; HHO injection to ICE is even more effective than hydrogen injection.

You may ask, what is HHO? What is Brown's Gas? What are the differences between H2O and HHO?

H2O is the chemical formula for a water molecule, where a single oxygen atom is bonded with two hydrogen atoms. HHO is a popular way of writing OxyHydrogen - a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen gases, usually in a 2:1 ratio. Thus, HHO = Hydrogen-Hydrogen-Oxygen. Since the oxygen and hydrogen are in mixed gas mode and not bonded, it is not H2O (water). Bonding hydrogen and oxygen requires an ignition and chemical reaction. When the Oxyhydrogen gas is lighted, oxygen and hydrogen atoms bonds and releases energy, the end result of the chemical reaction is water vapor.

HHO is also called Brown's Gas. It was named after Dr Brown. Dr Brown discovered this HHO process in 1960s, the process was then confirmed by chemists in 1990s. It is believed Brown's Gas will replace petroleum as the fuel of the future (source: Webster Dictionary. Hundreds of energy implementations have already used Brown Gas as a fuel source , HHO/Brown's gas is for real and it's more powerful than hydrogen ( Brownsgas.com for more information).

A picture worth thousands of words. Look at this picture below for one of the approaches used to generate HHO and feed to auto engine in real practice:

This popular blog detailed how he converted his Saturn to run HHO with the help of Water4Gas manual. The most recent video was posted on the performance of his Saturn. Pay close attention to the comments from others. He appeared on Today's Show lately (07-02-2008).

ABC News has released a video interview titled Run Cars on Water (date: 06-05-2008).

This is one of the most recent news - Man Converts Vehicle to Run Partly on Water (06-30-2008).

Another news report - A simple way to save gas: Add water detailed two brothers built water-gas kits and sold them locally, none of their buying customers have complained (07-16-2008).

Here is the most recent video news on water-powered car, it 's from Reuters (06-13-2008). A Japanese company - Genepax has used the water technology to power a car. The company said to sell the system for ¥2,000,000 (or about $18,700 -- not including the car).

You don't need to wait or spend $18,700 on such a system, in fact, this knowledge has been around for a while on the Internet, to obtain such information costs much less.

Most of this water conversion knowledge is available at online discussion forums, online ebooks, and websites. We'll look at various sources and checkout the detailed "systems" or "kits" sold on the Internet. We'll also discuss the pros and cons of water-gas technology in the last part of the article.

So which water-fuel "conversion kit" is widely used and most popular? Does the "kit" really work? How many folks have used the "kit"? What's their feedback from the REAL users?

There are a number of so-called water-gas "conversion kits" floating around. First, you have to realize, the "kits" or "systems" are online guides and manuals (there are a few local installers do sell self-made kits locally). If you expect to receive a package of "kit" filled with parts with your $50-$100 order, your expectation is too high or your judgment is mis-guided. Some guide sounds too good to be true and no public feedback; some manuals are extremely difficult to understand, offer little detailed information. If you have ever decided to buy such a guide/manual, you should choose the right one, otherwise, you might need to buy others when you find the information is inadequate.

Another important factor to consider is cost. Water-fuel "conversion-kit" cost varies from $50 to $400, depends on which one you follow, the necessary materials to build the kit cost varies from $50 to $500 by doing it yourself.

Review of Water Gas Hybrid DIY Systems

Undeniably, the most popular DIY "kit" on building a hydrogen-on-demand system is Water4Gas

Water4Gas is one of the first and the most popular DIY water-gas hybrid guides sold on Internet, it offers detailed and easy to read instructions, great phone and email support, and the user area has an excellent forum with hundreds of questions answered.

---------------------------------------------------
Water4Gas was introduced later last year when the gas price was still around $2s. This guide is the direct result of many water-gas systems built by Bill Lang, Tom Lang and the author Ozzie Freedom.

Ozzie and his mechanics spent many hours on testing and tuning the system, they went through piles of hardware to come to a practical design that finally holds together and PERFORMS WELL in various cars and trucks.

This is the first consumer grade DYI manual on how to turn water to fuel autos. Its audience is general public with some auto background. The manual is very easy to read, easy to follow, plain language, no jargon. Some people called the manual - Ozzie System.

The ebook is now web-based and updates often by the author, you can find practical lessons and picture-by-picture guide at each stage of the installation.

The ebook provides detailed part numbers and the places to get them. For example, it tells you where to buy MAP Sensor - a must have for newer model cars. To make the conversion kit, the parts and materials cost about $60 at local stores or mail-orders.

Ozzie's system can be installed or removed by an auto hobbyist without the help of a mechanic. On request, Ozzie also provides an updated list of worldwide authorized installers on Water4Gas system, he is actively recruiting local mechanics to install the system. If you're a good mechanic, why not ask him to add you to the local installer list? If you're not up to the challenge to do it yourself, why not find an authorized local installer on Water4Gas?

In the last ten months, thousands of auto enthusiasts have bought the guide to convert their autos to hydrogen-on-demand system.

Each weekend, Ozzie and a couple hundreds of Water4Gas DIY motorists show off their converted cars in Los Angeles. If you live close to LA, why not drop by and check it out? This is from Water4Gas website:

Water4Gas a Scam

Sample feedback from users who bought Water4Gas:

"I made the decision to personally put together the system and tried it out on my older car... Amazingly enough within the first week I had a 82% increase in MPG."

"Been looking for this! Shame on those greedy oil campanies who try to suppress this technology. In the next 10 years we will be using water as fuel. cheers!"

"Passed smog WITH NO catalytic inverter!"

"MY unit I have on my car is working. So far I have noticed a jump in mpg from 24ish mpg to 30ish mpg I am running it on a 2005 Nissan Sentra"

"I have been seeing up to 45 % better gas mileage"

"This is by far the best Water Power device I have seen!"

"Hey guys listen up... I have built my own HHO generator that produces HHO gas using only 3 amps of power. I've installed one on my car and ups my mileage by 30%... my next project is to set up my home generator to run on this gas."

"My Testamonial for my 2006 3/4 Ton Dodge cummins Turbo Diesel is: Stock MPG in town - 17.7 mpg After install MPG - 24.3 mpg" - (Straous 06-30-2008)

"2004 Subaru WRX (rated at 29mpg hwy), Driving 75mph, no a/c, usually I would get 27ish mpg, with hydroxy I am getting 35mpg" (Mike 07-02-2008)

"Did ours with a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 122K miles on it.. I'm getting 8mpg more with HHO..I went from 16 to 24mpg. " (Mneste 06-30-2008)

"My Water4Gas unit I have on my car is working. So far I have noticed a jump in mpg from 24ish mpg to 30ish mpg I am running it on a 2005 Nissan Sentra. I also wrapped several layers of tinfoil around my Oxygen sensor, doing this will trick your O sensor into thinking it is to hot which will affect how much gas/oxygen mixture your injectors or carburetor will take." Special materials, parts, techniques, and procedures needed to follow to make a highly efficient water-fuel solution. Water4 Gas website and the manual offers plenty detailed information.

Despite several animators came out after Water4Gas, Water4Gas remains the most popular gas-saving conversion manual. No other manuals provide the kind of on-going customer support as Water4Gas (phone, forum, and email). I emailed and called the company several times in my process of evaluating the system, Water4Gas crew kindly answered my inquires.

From the manual, you can access to Water4Gas's Help Desk. The Help Desk contains a knowledge base which answers hundreds of questions asked by users on installing and testing the system.

One main drawback of Water4Gas is its website itself. The website is designed for FireFox web browser. It it slow to access if you're using IE, it could take up to 20 seconds to load the full contents. You can by-pass the slow loading front-page and go to Order Page directly.

Summary: Water4Gas is the most popular and most tested water-gas hybrid system. The author and his mechanics have spent many hours in research, testing, and fine-tuning parts and techniques to make this hydrogen-on-demand system working perfectly, The system works for cars to trucks. The manual and two bonus books contain many valuable gas-saving tips. You can read several free sample chapters of the manual from its website .

You might spend a few more dollars on Water4Gas initially than some other animators as advertised on Internet, but Water4Gas is the real deal. This is the only company provides both telephone and email supports.

If you ever want to convert your car to to run water and gas hybrid, this manual is a must read. The guide will save you hundreds of hours in testing or looking for parts, don't even mention the extra continuous technical support you can get from the company.

Water4Gas also offers a bonus book includes hundreds of valuable gas-saving tips from spark plugs to fuel heaters you won't find in any other websites. Water4Ggas is highly recommended.

-----------------------------

Besides Water4Gas, "Drive Water Fuel", and "Run Your Car on Water" and some others manuals came out when the oil prices started to rise from $3 to $4. Most contents and methods used by these manuals follow Water4Gas except with less information and offer less technical support.

Run Your Car On Water guide came out in March. For some reason, Run Your Car on Water website is the most hyped in the class on Internet. The guide does priced $50 cheaper than Water4Gas. The website is vague on pointing out the "easy kit" is actually an online manual. The website doesn't offer detailed free information as Water4Gas, the website also doesn't offer a user support area or forum. Its website sure implemented a few marketing gimmicks, for example, when you entered its website , you 'll see some big water bottles with a video girl welcomes you to the site.

The 110 pages manual points you to the right direction on converting your car to run on water. The ebook is easy to read. It doesn't offer picture-to-picture instructions as Water4Gas, but for someone with basic knowledge of how this technology works, it is easy to follow. Some buyers said the parts mentioned in Run Your Car on Water ebook is hard to find locally.

Run Your Car on Water has an email address for support but doesn't offer telephone support.

"Drive Water Fuel" is another ebook type guide like Running Your Car on Water. In fact, both websites are similar, even the background image is similar. You're also welcomed by a nice girl. If you have a good mechanical background, know inside-out of your car, this guide should help you get started.

Some weaknesses of Drive Water Fuel guide is (a) The guide is not as easy to read as Water4Gas; (b) lack of customer feedback; (3) and no phone support from the seller.

Does Run A Car on Water Really Work? What 's the Pros and Cons?

Does the water-fuel technology really work? The answer is YES and NO depends on who you ask. Let the facts speak themselves.

By design, gasoline and diesel are the fuels in modern automobiles. The type of engine run most cars is called internal combustion engine or ICE , contrary to common myths about how much dollars the auto companies spent on auto technology, these companies are not gas-saving conscious, their pursuit is bigger, powerful, and expensive gas hogs, there is little fundamental auto technology progress in the past 10-20 years. The current auto design and engine is not efficient nor perfect at all.

The shocking truth is, these gasoline or diesel-fueled internal combustion engines (ICE), even aided with turbochargers, have a mechanical efficiency of about 20% (source: Wiki ).

In other words, if you spend $50 to fill a gas tank, only $15 of the gas is efficiently used or being productive, $35 of the gasoline in your tank is wasted and becomes major pollutant. That's why a catalyst converter is needed to control emission and deal with the wasted gas.

All internal combustion engines (ICE) depend on a chemical process of combustion: the reaction of FUEL with the oxygen (O) from the AIR, other oxidizers such as nitrous oxide (NO) and hydrogen (H) may be employed to increase efficiency (source: Wiki ). Can you see the room for improvements on ICE? Reducing gasoline waste from 80% to 60% in your car would double your car's mileage.

The naysayers or staus quo are mostly from these individuals or "experts" who have never tried or experimented the type of system on their cars. Most naysayers had the belief that fuel has been 100% efficiently burned, there is no room left to increase fuel efficiency, you cannot use the battery to generate more energy than it was charged. In their opinions, there is nothing can be done in the car to increase car mileage under the Laws of Thermodynamics.

The rest naysayers believed "run car on water" is to mix water and gas together in the gas tank. Of course, the oil companies and auto manufacturers would have you believe that nothing can be done to increase fuel efficiency.

But exactly what is the laws of thermodynamics? How does it evolved?

The Laws of Thermodynamics were developed through a combination of observation, experimentation, and innovation. Development of the Laws of Thermodynamics actually began thousands of years ago, it has been evolving ever since.

As science became more sophisticated, researchers developed theories about the workings of matter and energy. These ideas were not always on the right track, despite extensive initial evidence.

While some theories could be explained through evidence available at the time, they were eventually proven wrong by further discoveries in the later years. Every civilization's idea of "Modern Science" once supported concepts as wrong as an unmoving Earth, orbited by the Sun. It claimed that heat was an invisible fluid, or that only males held the components for human life.

Scientists developed these theories based on the data that they were AVAILABLE at the time - theories that were sometimes proven false. They believed these things because their science led them to that belief. They didn't have perfect or absolute proof, but they could make the data fit their beliefs. (Source: All About Science)

Sometimes blind and rigid faith in science can lead brilliant men to believe things that are not true, because they haven't seen everything that science - or the universe - has to show them.

Bumblebees cannot fly according to the Laws of Aerodynamics.

Lord William Thomson Kelvin, a brilliant scientist 100 years ago, for whom the Kelvin temperature scale is named, stated in 1895, "Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible." Of course, regretfully, 100 years later, even a three year old kid laughs at his statement.

None knows what's going to run on cars 100 years from today, could be hydrogen, or water, or even air, but one thing is for sure, gasoline will be history. At a future time, everyone will laugh at some theories as we believed today.

The ones support Water-Gas system are from some academic research and mostly from thousands of auto practitioners and experiments.

This 2004 academic paper(PDF) titled "Investigation of the Effects of Hydrogen Addition on Performance and Exhaust Emissions of Diesel Engine" was published at the 2004 FISITA World Automotive Congress in Barcelona. According to the paper, experiments were carried out to evaluate the addition of HHO mixture obtained through electrochemically decomposed water to the inlet air of a single cylinder direct injection fuel engine.

Their conclusion is "when a small amount of hydrogen is added to the intake air, the combustion process of the internal combustion engines could be considerably enhanced. It was found out that the addition of hydrogen has a good influence on the combustion."

Hydrogen or HHO injection to ICE is a very effective way to increase fuel efficiency and reduce emission both from scientific research and from the experience of auto practitioners.

Will HHO/Brown's Gas be the Fuel of the Future?

The auto companies are far away from producing the kind of cars customers want. It is no surprise when Ford Motor Co. sales tumbled nearly 34 percent in June and GM laid off thousands in July because they are in wrong direction, they're way out of touch from the market - drivers like you and me.

On the other hand, the interest on products such as Water4Gas has skyrocketed. In other words, the type of auto development such as Water4Gas and related systems are the devices drivers really want.

The water-gas hybrid system will be a home-made DYI system built by you or a mechanic but based on the experience of many others. The system uses about 2-3 AMPs electricity out of your car's battery to separate water (H2O) into a mixture of Hydrogen and Oxygen to gas state. When hydrogen is mixed with Oxygen (HHO), it is also known as Brown's Gas as I mentioned above. Brown's Gas is more powerful than Hydrogen alone as the fuel, with 4 ounces of HHO combined with gasoline, it can power the car for about 120 miles.

HHO burns three times more efficient than gasoline. Brown's gas dramatic increase BTUs upon combustion. Because its burn is highly efficient, what would have come out of the tailpipe as an emission ends up getting burned up, therefore, it also gives an equally dramatic decrease in emission pollution.

When Brown's Gas bonds with the gasoline and starts the firing process, that's when you get the chemical reaction, it gives you car with higher gas mileage and cleaner emissions. More explanation of the technology is provided by Denny Klein, president of Hydrogen Technologies Applications and one of the original inventors of the technology, he owns several patents on HHO - "Aqagen".

A successful water-gas conversion system safely converts H2O to HHO at low voltage with no more than 3 AMPs battery consumption. This is where you need a good guide from experienced experts such as Water4Gas to learn the materials, techniques, and lessons without spending hours to go through trials and errors by yourself.

The good part of this technology is, you don't need to change your engine or on-board computer system (of course, if you could trick it with some devices as specified in Water4Gas , you can increase the mileage even more). A quart-size (95O cc) container is placed somewhere under the hood. You fill the bottle with water, adding some baking soda and other electrolyte as described by Water4Gas to atomize water and break to smaller particles more easily.

The problem and technical challenge has always been on how to separate water economically. The traditional methods of separating the bond of the water molecule to HHO have resulted in dismay.

By design, water4Gas type systems draw about 3 AMPs electricity per cell (bottle), it consumes about the same amount of electricity as a car CD player, that's nothing compare with the headlights which draw 12-25 AMPs.

For many years, Stanley Meyer researched this problem, he found a way around it. Stanley have several patents in this area. Many believed Stanley Myer was poisoned to death by oil companies Water4Gas also discussed Stanley Myer's patents to implement a practical pure water system.

What about media coverage on this technology? The news media has done several stories on HHO Gas recently. The technology has been featured on CNN, FOX News, ABC, and NBC. I mentioned two video interviews from ABC and Reuters above. Fox News has a full coverage on Water4gas.

According to the media reports, the HHO technology is being demonstrated to members of Congress, local government officials, and even NASA. An exhibit demonstrating the technology was displayed at The 2004 Governor's Conference on the Environment in Kentucky. According to the press released by the Governor's Conference on the Environment in Kentucky, Hydrogen Technology Applications Inc. has donated several HHO gas generators to Kentucky universities and technical training centers during its introduction program, this technical is for real.

Denny Klein said "this technology is going to end up being in the mainstream eventually," he further predicted, "and then the critics are going to look absolutely foolish."

Brownsgas someday will replace petroleum fuel as a free clean energy source. A discovery that is considered to be a future replacement for petroleum fuels, that can also be used to weld anything to anything and transmute nuclear waste into becoming non nuclear. -WillPWilson, The Discovery of Atomic Chemistry, 1993 based on finding verified by more the forty University Physics Departments.

If it's true that car can run on water with special kits and technologies, why the automobile industry have not commercialized it or advocate it?

Others say, if you could improve your gas mileage by 30%+ for less than $200, why wouldn't every car manufacturer in the world use this technology as standard equipment?

What a shame! Why would the car companies want to sell a $100 conversion kit to save 20-50% gas instead of selling a $30,000 - $40,000 hybrid cars? What are the profits they make from $100 device? Can a simple conversion kit pay $300 million salaries for the CEOs, millions of workers and dealers working in the car industry? Would the gasoline companies happy with a simple gas-saving technology? It costs me $60 to fill my gas tank, would the gas companies want me to pay them $100 or $30 to fill the gas tank?

Some may say the gas and auto companies have billions of dollars and thousands of engineers, why they won't sell such a device. You're right, the big auto and oil companies have tons of money to burn, their engineers are smart and sophisticated to make huge cars like Hummer, but their goal is profit-making, not trying to save gas and making cheaper cars, they're heading to the wrong direction.

Automakers and gas companies are not in the best interest of the public to save gas. In fact, why would they want to stop making expensive cars and leave cars with high profit margins on the table. It does make business sense for auto companies and gas companies to advocate EXPENSIVE gas consuming cars, trucks, SUVs, and outrageous high price-tag hybrid cars. The automakers are just too out of touch with the general public needs, expect to see big layoffs and more plants to close soon.

If you've read the documentary 'Who Killed the Electric Car', you might realize that run-water-on-car could be another type of technology the car manufacturers simple don't want you to know or try. Due to the simplicity and economic factor of the technology, the information on Water Gas is easily accessible by the general public, they cannot block the freedom of Internet information sharing.

If you cannot afford to buy Water4Gas or other commercial-grade manuals, here is a copy of one of the original "run water on car" manuals, it is free to download. The file offers some instructions but no pictures nor detailed materials, nor assembling lessons. If you're an auto mechanic, take a look at this manual first, you will see this technology is there and it is not a scam, "run car on water" is practical and can be done.

HYDROGEN WILL REPLACE OIL AS THE MAIN ENERGY

Hydrogen rarely occurs by itself in nature, mostly found combined with other elements such as oxygen (for water) and carbon (for fossil fuels) from which it must be harvested. The good news is that once separated, hydrogen is the ultimate clean and highly compacted energy carrier.

Some foreign automaker is jumping into hydrogen powered cars. BMW Hydrogen 7 is running on Hydrogen only. Honda Technology is in the process of developing this technology into their own cars and expect to see it in the market within four years. Check out this Honda's news (06-17-2008): Revolution hydrogen-fuel cars roll off production line in Japan.

Run car on water is the future, one day these oil companies will be the history of past, we'll say farewell to Gasoline. For these smart motor hobbyists, they can say Hi to Water!

Great work! I'd like to see your personal data. I'm building mine from scratch and reverse engineering it so it fits in my truck better, and also going more from the saltwater idea. So I don't have any data yet.

Good Luck

Extremely informative lens. I especially enjoyed a link that took me to info re: the safety of previous inventors of the water gas technology and how they had their lives threatened! Feel free to stop by my lens also! Thanks, K.G.

Excellent Lens. I like the quality insight you have provided here about Is Run Car on Water A Scam? Must Read This Before Put Water Into Gas Tank. Keep up the good work.

I love this lens.. If this can actually break through this would be the best alternative to gas. Thanks for the info..
