Introducing the members...
The Runaways spawned far-reaching careers that continue to influence and impact a legion of fans and professionals.Joan Jett is considered a legend in rock and roll. She has put out hits like "I Love Rock and Roll," "Crimson and Clover" and "I Hate Myself For Loving You," has acted in movies like Light of Day, and is still actively touring and occasionally popping up in TV and films.
Lita Ford is considered by many to be the "Queen of Metal." She has released a slew of her own albums and hit the charts with songs like "Kiss Me Deadly" and "Close My Eyes Forever." After a family hiatus, Lita's back on the road and talking about a new album.
Cherie Currie engaged in her own solo career and added a run of acting credits to her resume, including Foxes with Jodie Foster. She is still in demand when she plays and enjoys a new career as a chainsaw artist.
Sandy West fronted The Sandy West Band and maintained a loyal following of die-hard fans until her death in 2006.
Jackie Fox eventually entered the legal profession, while Vicki Blue became a filmmaker and head of Sacred Dogs Entertainment. Michael Steel, the band's first bass player, went on to make big hits as a part of The Bangles. Peggy Foster has continued to play in a variety of bands while Laurie McCallister left music for the most part after playing bass with The Orchids.

Why we chose Cancer Research
Our charity for The Runaways Virtual Concert was chosen in honor of Sandy West, the hard hitting drummer of The Runaways, who died of lung cancer in 2006.A packed roster of bands and a full house of fans filled The Knitting Factory in December of 2006 to pay tribute to Sandy, proof of her lasting impact on the industry and those who follow it.
