Getting Involved in Local Politics
Running for local office is time-consuming, expensive, and requires a large personal commitment. It requires petitions, learning the minutia of local issues, fundraising, door-to-door campaigning, media exposure and more.
That said, there are plenty of reason TO run. They include:
* A particular local issue that is not being addressed to your satisfaction.
* An opportunity to serve the greater community.
* Incumbent dissatisfaction.
Regardless of your personal reasons, running for political office requires a great deal of energy. Be sure you are ready for a campaign before you take the leap. And if you do - good luck!
