Run, Tellman!

Having experienced bouts of homelessness himself as a teen, Tellman Knudson, a very successful and popular internet marketer, is raising $100,000,000 to combat youth homelessness by being the first person ever to run across America in his bare feet!

Tellman left Battery Park in New York City on Sept. 9, 2009 and hopes to reach the Santa Monica Pier in 99 days.

The purpose of this lens is to promote Tellman's Cause and to help him get the word out. Please go to his site to contribute!

The "Run Tellman Run" title came from Tom Hanks' movie "Forest Gump". Tellman says people kept joking with him and saying "Run Tellman, Run", so decided to make it official!

Why would anybody run barefoot across the country?

A Hundred Million Dollars for Homeless Teens is One Good Reason!

Did I write that correctly? $100,000,000. That is 100 and six zeros, correct?

Tellman has a big WHY - actually about 2 million of them.

The troubled economy, unfortunately, affects teenagers too.

The RunTellmanRun site says there are about 2 million homeless kids in the United States and that number rises every year by about 25 %. That is about 6 out of every 100 kids in the U.S.

Now a hundred Million bucks sure seems like a lot, but even if he raises that much, that's still only about 50 bucks per kid. Obviously it will help tremendously but they need so much. We can help Tellman raise a lot more than 1 Hundred Million. I believe we can. He is incredibly enthusiastic and optimistic about this project!

I would love for everyone reading this to donate 50 bucks at runtellmanrun.com, then come back here and mention in the comments that you helped a homeless kid. I have seen these kids first hand, Y'all. It is so sad! They do not have a clue how much someone somewhere loves them and wants them to be safe. They end up on the streets for so many reasons, and by their perception have so few choices. Many of them just do not have a viable alternative! 1 out of every 3 homeless people are under the age of 18. That is a staggering number! Let's get them back into homes and living a decent and happy life now! These people are our precious jewels - our legacy!

They are at risk for so many awful fates as long as they stay on the street - crime, prostitution, aids, suicide, every issue is magnified a million times to a kid on the street. Some of these kids are young, too - even infants are living out there with their teenage Moms. It is so sad. It is rediculous! We can help them! If Tellman can run barefoot across the entire country, can't we give them a little hope?

Lehigh Valley, PA

More than 2 million people under 24 are homeless at some point each year, and 13 young people die on the street each day, according to Knudson's statistics. Knudson said many leave abusive homes.

"It's kind of like a Catch-22 situation," Knudson said. "They have no home, no money, no way to get food and they're scoffed at by able-bodied, able-minded adults who think they're lazy."

and his visit to the Crayola Factory in Easton, PA

From PR Web:

"I didn't know that Crayola was based in Easton," said Tellman, "but I'm psyched to go to the Crayola Factory and bring my son, Torger, who will definitely dig it. I hope that people will join my cause and donate money for homeless and at-risk youth. Maybe we can even use some Crayola markers to sign some feet before heading west towards Ohio. That would be SWEET."

Copper Canyon: Tarahumara Indians: World's Greatest Runners
The Raramuri are great runners because running is part of their everyday life. They don't run for glory or competition-although they have entered a few races and defeated some of the world's greatest athletes. They run to get somewhere-to visit family, to sell produce in town, to gather food, or even to hunt deer. With only primitive weapons, the Raramuri have hunted deer by literally running them to exhaustion.
Secrets of the Chia Seed
"Chia" is actually the Mayan word for strength. The seeds were used by these ancient cultures as mega-energy food, especially for their running messengers, who would carry a small pouch of it with them.

An alternative to Tellman's "Pickled Feet" concoction

The efficacy of detoxifying foot baths (also known as ionic foot baths) are controversial. Some holistic practitioners embrace them, while some scientists denounce them as quackery.

When Tellman runs that last mile

It will be a huge "Feat"

After overcoming "twisted legs syndrome", Knudson set a handful of cross country records at his native Mascome High School in New Hampshire.

The Twitpic Mystery Game

To Celebrate 100 miles

Maybe we should do a game every hundred miles? Or something like that.

Anyway so I doctored up a screenshot from the video of Tellman Crossing a bridge (anybody know what bridge that was?) into PA - also moving into triple digits and making it 100 miles.
