Who is Russell Peters?
A truly international stand-up comic with South Asian roots. Russell explores the clash of cultures and attitudes towards different races that is living together in a globalized world today.
Chances are, you're also living in a multicultural society. Drawing from his own experience growing up in a multicultural environment in Canada, making friends with Chinese, Indians, Canadians, Nigerians, etc, etc, he is able to see the humor of cross cultural differences and makes fun of them, regularly engaging the audience. While controversial at times, he avoids being senselessly derogatory, and combined with a likeable stage persona and cheeky grin, his performances attracts audiences of all background.
He travels the world in search of new materials and to do performances. If you've seen any of his routines before, it's more than likely that you can relate to it, saying 'That's so true!'. He's absolutely hilarious.

Born in 1970, he's of Anglo-Indian heritage. Russell has been doing stand up comedy for 17 years! His Comedy Now! performance of February 2004 is one of the network's most popular shows of all time.His popularity sky rocketed when fans placed segments of the special on the internet (the power of YouTube!).
Thereafter, there was a demand for Russell comedy and fans requesting for his appearance around the world. Being on demand, Russell has toured extensively, playing to sold out crowds throughout North America, South Africa, Asia, and Europe.

A featured comic at Montreal's Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and the Edinburgh (Scotland) Comedy Festival, HBO's Aspen Comedy Festival and many others across the globe.He hosted the Canada Day Comedy Festival 2006.Russell's television appearances include CBC-TV's Comics!, Club Class on Channel 5 (UK), Channel 4's Nights At The Empire, ITV'S Live From Jongleurs,and two one-hour Comedy Now! specials on Canada's Comedy Network. He has also hosted his own talk show on BBC-TV (UK) and performed on The David Frost Comedy Festival Special, broadcast on both the BBC and the CBC. His Comedy Now! performance of February 2004 is one of the network's most popular shows of all time.
Since his return to Canada, Russell has been filming a new sitcom for Canadian television. He has also appeared in Police Academy - The Series, and has had two one hour specials on The Canadian Comedy Channel, Russell Peters is Off The Hook and The Russell Peters Show (which won a Gemini Award for Best Solo Comedy Show).
Russell has been nominated for four Gemini Awards [the Canadian equivalent of the Emmys].He has also been nominated for Best Male Comic at the Canadian Comedy Awards.
He's performed in China, South Africa, Australia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Jamaica, St. Maartens, Trinidad, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates and in 2007, will be the first North American comic to tour India.
During 2001 Russell made his first appearance in the South African Comedy Festival, and presented a series of Network East:Late for BBC2. He also hosted the finals of Miss Nude UK for Granada, a role which he will be repeating throughout all the European versions of the same show in 2002. 2002 has also seen Russell present another series of Network East:Late, and he will be presenting Mechanoids for BBC Choice later in the year. He will also be returning to South Africa, to host an "ethnic show" in Durban, as well as appearing in comedy festivals in Brussels, Amsterdam and for the 11th year running he will be performing at the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal.
