Brand's last radio show was aired in October 2008. Due to comments left on Andrew Sach's answering machine, Brand, and his fellow Radio 2 presenter and guest Jonathon Ross were suspended, which led on to Russell's unfortunate resignation.

The comments towards the Fawlty Towers actor, regarded by some as obscene, regard a previous event when Russell slept with Sachs' grand-daughter Georgina Baillie, who is a part of a burlesque dancing group called The Satanic Sluts.

The message left on Sachs's answer-phone was made after Andrew didn't phone in to an interview. Brand had already made comments off the phone about having sex with Georgina, and did speak of his sexual relationship with Baillie on the four messages that were left on Sachs' phone. However, later on Jonathon Ross blurted out 'Russell f***** your grand-daughter!'.

After the show, only 2 complaints were made about the show from the estimated audience of 400,000 listeners, both of which were related to Ross' use of an expletive. On 26th October, British newspaper The Mail on Sunday reported that Andrew Sachs had been "terribly hurt" by the comments. Following this report and many others, including comments from columnists, the story escalated so much that in managed to eclipse much of the other global news including U.S. Presidential Election and the fighting in The Democratic Republic of Congo.

By 2nd November, the number of complaints rose 38,000.

On 29th October, Russell Brand and Jonathon Ross were suspended from their work at the BBC. Brand resigned later that day.
