Russell C. Smith Collage Art & Photography

I create my collages with pasted paper and cloth to create strongly designed pieces, often using visual elements of the natural world as a connecting thread. My pieces combine vibrant color and design, making some collages closer in form to graphic and print artwork. I studied life drawing at The Art Student's League of New York from 1978 to 1980, and I have worked in the collage form since the mid-eighties. For many years drawing was my chosen art form, followed by watercolor and brush and ink drawing. After discovering the collage form while living in New York City, I knew this was the art form I'd continue creating in for many years.

Writer, Novelist, Collage Artist, Seattleite, Human Bean, I think Dylan is the Shakespeare of our time, The Kinks are vastly underrated, cats are superior alien beings, and Leonardo da Vinci invented the Internet. The collages on my blog can now be purchased as prints at Imagekind.com. http://russellcsmith. imagekind.com/CollageArtwork. I can be contacted at: russells7 at gmail dot com (fill in the blanks).

Three reasons to love CreativeLifeInProgress

Hello Everyone

1. Collage art made for human eyeballs and people who love form and colors in motion.

2. Ingesting some good art everyday is just like drinking green tea or taking vitamin C.

3. Collage is the modern art form for a world in continuous speeded-up motion.

Hello Mr. Smith,
I have few outlets for my mind's ramblings and while reading the LA Times this morning I thought of you. After all, you noticed my lense. Robert Rauschenberg, I have not heard of him till today, has died and the LA Times had a wonderful informative article about him. In the early 50's he called his assemblages combines and would walk around his neighborhood block only once to gather materials for his works. Are you aware of his works and was he an influence? Sincerely, Sherry
