    His website shows he's involved with a clean water initiative around the world. That doesn't sound that sexy, but it's actually really important:

    Ah, thanks for the update.

    I desperately need to overhaul this whole page. I don't know what I'm gonna say. He's fallen away so much from the promise of those first few years, and who knows what he'll be like next year... or even if he'll be a Dodger next year. It's sad. A lot of people want him gone now, and I just want him BACK -- the old Russ.

    Actually, after looking around, I've found no evidence except for one internet rumor reported over and over that claims they've broken up. Rumors like this get all over the internet very fast. Based on what?

    Sure, someone copied and pasted it into the Wikipedia article. But it seems as if one random person posted they'd broken up, and now everyone's just copying and pasting that "news" from one site to the next without asking themselves, "How do we know?"

    Maybe it's true, and maybe it's not, but I need a little more evidence before I accept that rumor as proven. Sorry, Petunia!

    I searched and searched for Russell Martin's at bat song, and now -- many months too late -- I've got your answers.
    In '06 it was Kayne West's "Touch the Sky".
    In '07 it was Sammy Hagar's "I Can't Drive 55".
    Not sure about '08.
    In '09 he had Deliverance by Bubba Sparxxx.

    I'm not entirely sure that's a bad thing. I see the Dodgers struggling now -- but players as good as Russell and some of the other young guys have so much talent. I feel for them for being stuck in this STUPID controversy, but on the other hand, I followed these guys before Manny got here, and I want them to prove themselves! I hated that he was overshadowing them, and I hate it even more now that I know why.
