Saltys Pirate Ship Project
We had at first desired to go traditional pirate ship, but decided steampunk would be a Lot more Fun and use up more stuff already in stock.
SteamPunk it Is !
Mar-01-10 - sadly, the economy has really eaten into this project, there has been very little progress in rather some time.
Nov. 2010 - scored some really cool copper and brass junk at the church thrift this month, mayhaps some progress will happen this winter !
Dec-01-2010 - got an old jazzy powerchair to build a parade tug with
Jan - 26- 2011 - sorted thru the piles of cool stuff and pulled out a few things to install on the Rustydragon in the coming weeks
april 2011 - got some more cool junk to use on the ship
The Story So Far
We started with a 1950s wooden sailboat that had been build in England, , sailed the world, and ended up her ocean voyages in the CA Bay Area as the "tout va bien", sinking at the Napa Marina in 2008. Word from the previous owner is that she was a sister ship to the 'Trekka'.I don't know if thats true, there was no documentation presented, but itsa good story ;)
Soon after sinking at dock, she was raised from the murky Napa River depths and loaded on the trailer to bring home to Saltys Pirate Den.
She is being refitted and was rechristened as the Rusty Dragon, Saltys Pirate Ship / parade float / faire boothe

We got an engine and some gizmos !
the engine is an old Hardie orchard sprayer pump, 2 cylinders and wore out 50 years ago.
I scrapped out some old electrical boxes and got what will be the control knife switches.
and why, you may ask do we need switches ?
Well, to Control all the various gizmos I been cobbling together !
Like the LED sparks in that hole in the bow, where we took that death ray shot.
That shot has caused all manner of trouble on the ship, from the green glow in the cabin to the to the weird little sparks that happen at random.
Its all MadBoy Stuff !
