Review of My Ryobi 12V Lithium Drill

I Love My Ryobi 12V Lithium Drill
I love my Ryobi 12 V lithium drill. I know that may sound strange to some of you, considering that I am a woman, but it's perfectly natural for me to have a large variety of hand held tools. I have always been Mrs. Fixer-upper around the house or worked in what most considered a mans field. I learned early on that the proper tools make all the difference in the world.

Big Doesn't Always Mean Better
My Drill Can Do Anything Your Drill Can Do!
Big doesn't always mean better, the proof is in the pudding or in my case the drill! This small lightweight drill packs a big punch.
Over the years of doing repeditive work I developed tendonitis in my right hand and wrist. This made it almost impossible to use the 18 and 14 volt drills (too heavy). About a year and a half ago I started a new job at a different cabinet shop and I needed to use a drill five to six hours a day to perform my job.
I went shopping for a drill that wouldn't damage my hand any further. I found the Ryobi 12V Lithium Battery powered drill. (My husband has used Ryobi tools for years so I knew they were good.) I picked it up and it fit in my hand like it was made just for me. I knew that I had to have this one, no other would do.
Ryobi has always made a good product. The only way to improve on thier products was to produce a stronger, longer lasting battery. They did it with the lithium batteries since they can hold a full charge longer than the old batteries did.
I really can't find a negative point about this drill. It has been used to build cabinets, hang pictures, used to do repairs around the house and much more.
Is It A Tool or Is It A Toy?
I Had The Last Laugh
As I said earlier, working in a cabinet shop is considered to be mostly a mans world. I have been the only woman to work in some.
I was proud of my new purchase when I went to work the next morning. I went to my work station, got out my drill and started to work. In a little while I heard some of my male co-workers snickering and I turned around to see several standing staring at me. I heard one of them say "Is it a tool or a toy?". Then they all laughed. I said "Oh it's real" and went back to work.
Throughout the next several days one by one I was asked to borrow my drill. I noticed after a few weeks that several of my co-workers came to work with new drills. You got it ! A Ryobi 12V lithium drill. Needless to say I had the last laugh.

I bought this drill two summers ago, used it for a summer project and off and on since then. I got it out the other day for a project, recharged the batteries, and it is not working. Batteries check out fine. Extremely disappointed.

- I bought the 12V ryobi for my 12 year old son to build some bird houses and help me with projects.. Needless to say it is now my staple go to drill for just about anything. I love this tool and have had several friends buy one after using mine. I have not found anything it will not do. I was running 3" screws through osb and pressure treated 2x4s and sinking them deep.. no problem for this little machine.

- For about 99% of the jobs you need a cordless drill for around the home, a cheapo drill like the Ryobi you mention is ideal.

- I own 4 drills. A Makita corded, a 12 dewalt, a 18 volt dewalt and now the Ryobi 12 volt. I have only used the Ryobi a little since I just bought it but love it so far. Enough power for medium size jobs and small and light. Some jobs requre the 18 volt dewalt but not that many and it sure is hard on arms and sholders. I am over 200# and work out 5 days a week and the 18 volt is still a lot to handle when used for more than an hour or two.
