Doing the "Write" Thing

As a writer, I enjoy finding new readers for my work, even when I'm not being paid for it. I've released several of my short stories online under "open" licenses that allow people to share and build on them, all without paying me a dime. Sometimes reader feedback is all the "pay" I want.

So, this Lens is here to introduce you to some of my writings, and to give you the chance to vote for your favorite. I invite you to grab a cup of coffee or tea (or glass of wine or other preferred beverage), sit back, and read a few stories you haven't read before. Then be sure to vote!

Get the Book!

While you can read a couple of the stories on my personal Web site, you'll need to work a little harder to find the other two. While all four have been released under an open license that allows distribution of them beyond my site, you may have to buy the book to be able to read the two titles not currently on my site. (Of course, buying the book will encourage me to write more!)

Pick Your Favorite Story

These are the four short stories I've published online and in book form. Vote for your favorite!

Tramp Avatar

The things you take for granted are sometimes the very things that are least real. When you awaken to alternative possibilities... well, are you ready for that?1 point

Journey to Yandol

A female space freighter pilot gets wrapped up in political intrigue without even trying.0 points

Tea Leaf Technology

Not all is as it seems when a cult fortune-teller reads tea leaves in this galaxy-spanning tale.0 points

Power Off

When it comes to unintended consequences, endangering the entire planet ranks pretty high on the "drastic" scale. This far-fetched story spins a powerful result from something we take for granted.0 points

Other Writings

Of course, my writings are not limited to short stories! In fact, as much as I enjoy writing short stories, I tend to spend my writing time on other things. Naturally, I have other Squidoo Lenses that include a fair amount of writing, so you're welcome to click over to my profile to see a list of those. You can also find out more about my other writings in the Writings section of my personal Web site, and you can read and/or subscribe to my blog for news about my writing. Someday, I may create a whole site just about my writing, but I think that will wait until I'm closer to getting a novel published. If I have a book in print, my readers may not be interested in the software, photos, political commentary, and other bits and pieces on my personal site.
