My Female Wrestling Lenses on Squidoo
I started out doing blogs back in 2007 on Blogger, and my first blog was a pro wrestling blog.
Why?
I grew up with pro wrestling.
My mom and dad watched it, all my friends did, watching wrestling crossed boundaries and tied people together.
Well when they weren't yelling at the top of their lungs.
So having been a wrestling fan since I was a kid (putting that in the mid 60s), I had a fair about of pro wrestling knowledge.
But while the big bruisers and the masked villains were great to watch, one group always amazed me.
The women of wrestling.
Where I was in North Carolina, you didn't get to see the women a lot.
Occasionally I would get to see Penny Banner, Joyce Grable or Moolah on TV, but that was once in a great while.
As I got older, I kept watching wrestling long after I knew it was fake.
The showmanship, the athleticism still fascinated me.
So when I decided to start writing blogs years later, I wanted to do some stuff on the women, who I considered un-sung heroes.
I found out that a LOT of wrestling fans liked the female wrestlers too so I started doing female wrestling blogs.
And I branched out and started learning about the women of Lucha Libre (Mexican Pro Wrestling) and Joshi Puroresu (Japanese women wrestlers).
And when I came to Squidoo, I wanted to do even more here and introduce other people to the wonderful (and yes sometimes weird) world of female pro wrestling not just in the US, but all over the world.

The Women of Lucha Libre Mexicana
Talk about a wonderful and weird world, Lucha Libre is it.
In Mexico though, wrestling is as much a tradition as entertainment, and the women there are respected as much as the men.
Even to the extent that the Mexican wrestling promotion Asistencia AsesorÃa y Administración (AAA) has not only a womens belt, but a World Mixed Tag Team Championship title as well, where the women compete alongside the men.
Of course you think "Well it's all fake, what's the big deal?"
It's the respect the women are given in the storyline.
Whens the last time you saw a WWE Diva go toe to toe with a WWE Superstar?
And maybe beat him?

Boy I am creative with the names huh?
This Lens has even more of the women that put their well being on the line for the fans.
And trust me, Lucha Libre can get rough!

Japanese Women Wrestling
Like Lucha Libre, the ladies that wrestle in Japan are respected grapplers.
And way before the WWE had Divas, some of these ladies not only wrestled, but modeled and had singing careers as well.
Now Joshi is not as popular as it once was, but a lot of the stars are making their way over to the US and working for indy promotions here like SHIMMER.

The WWE Divas, Part 1
Going back to my love of American female wrestlers, I have a few Lenses devoted to the ladies here that wrestle.Of course I have the WWE, the biggest wrestling promotion here in the US, even though they do not refer to it as "wrestling" anymore.
The WWE Divas started out with Sunny (Tammy Lynn Sytch) and have included women that can wrestle and women that just look pretty.
Though to be fair, some of the models the WWE recruited went on to really train and became half-decent wrestlers like ex-WWE Diva Candice Michell

And even then, it's a task keeping up with the hirings and firings.
The WWE Divas - Part 2
The Beautiful FCW Divas
FCW is the descendant of the original Florida Championship Wrestling with Gordon Solie that I used to watch as a kid.
The show has a smaller, almost Indy feel to it, but it's run by the WWE.
Actually, FCW is the developmental territory for the WWE and the ladies there are there with the hopes of one day becoming WWE Divas.

The FCW Divas on WWE NXT
And no I have no idea why the WWE is on a science fiction channel.
Maybe SOAPnet was full.
Anyway, here is where I kinda reconnected with FCW and started to follow those who would be Divas one day.
And since then, some of them have made it.

The TNA Knockouts
Of course I had to give equal time to the WWE's competition, TNA.Total Nonstop Action Wrestling started up in 2002 aiming to give the WWE a run for it's money.
So far that hasn't happened, but the female talent on TNA far outstrips the WWE's.
A lot of the TNA Knockouts come from the Indy ranks and a lot come from the WWE itself thanks to that revolving door policy I mentioned earlier.

WWE and TNA Merchandising
An odd side-effect of writing these Lenses was that I got interested in the WWE and TNA action figures.
So I did a couple of WWE wrestling action figure Lenses and one TNA (cause they don't have as many).
Now these figures are not gonna win any awards, but I'm hoping that after seeing the new Mattel Signature Series for the WWE, maybe they will up their game a bit and make some really good action figures for the ladies.

Christina Von Eerie
I like Christina because she is different and to me she falls right in the Daffney, MsChif category.
She worked for TNA for a bit, but I would love to see her in the WWE teamed up with Kia Stevens aka Awesome Kong.
Now THEY would break all the Diva stereotypes!

Maryse Ouellet - Former WWE Diva
Where Christina started out as a wrestler, "The French-Canadian Beauty" Maryse started out as a model and worked her way up through the ranks to hold the WWE Diva's Championship twice.
If Maryse was still there and the WWE hired Christina, that would be the ultimate feud!

Christy Hemme - TNA Knockout
Although she doesn't actually wrestle anymore, Christy Hemme is one of the hottest women on the TNA roster. Before being a TNA Knockout though, she was a WWE Diva.
And along with Lita and April Hunter, one of the sexiest redheads to ever grace the squared circle.

Eve Torres - WWE Diva
One of the most beautiful women in the WWE and recently turned heel, Eve Torres.Eve started out as a model, but she has had the sticktoitiveness (is that really a word?) to hang in there and get better and better in the ring.
Eve Torres - WWE Diva
Candice Michelle - Former WWE Diva
Another young lady that although she is gone from the WWE ranks, is still very popular with the fans is Candice Michelle.Candice was yet another model turned wrestler and she got the WWE a lot of publicity during her stint with them when she also appeared as the "Go Daddy Girl".
