Original works by the artist herself
Hi, I'm Sabre-Tooth-Fairy (admittedly, that's not how my family knows me but...). I've been working as a freelance illustrator for just over a year now, so I've reached a point where I'm striking out on my own. This lens highlights my products available today and why and how I do what I do. There's also some tips that new freelancers may find useful. Enjoy!

Thanks to the innovation of sites like Lulu.com and Zazzle, the world of published material is an ever broadening universe. Artists and writers no longer need to grovel to potential publishers and clients on bended knee, begging for a chance to market themselves.
At my Zazzle store, you'll find fine-quality prints available in a range of paper and framing options, as well as T-shirts & hoodies, stainless steel travel mugs, postcards, magnets and handbags. All the works on sale here are original designs, created with a mixture of hand-drawing and photoshop techniques.
The works you'll find there are inspired by a number of different things, but most of my influences come from the things I loved in my childhood: Gojira movies, Dinosaurs, Graffiti, Graphic novels and saturday-morning cartoons. Most of these are in some way evident in the designs that I do. Some of it is probably unashamed 'populist' art, but I don't see why that should matter - no one creates art so that everyone will hate it...unless they're a 'Fine artist' of course, but they're quite an unusual breed and by no means representative of the modern design world.
In terms of influences from the art world, the two sources that mostly inspire my style are Celtic knotwork and japanese Ukio-e. I've tried to study the construction and composition of these designs as closely as possible, so that I can understand and implement the principles, without descending to the level of 'fan-art'. I hope I succeed, but I'm always happy to recieve comments, so please leave your feedback on any designs you either love or despise on the site!
The one thing I like my designs to have is a sense of humour. The design world takes itself so seriously that it's easy to forget that most of us get into drawing and sculpting because it's fun! So, I try to have fun with everything i do and I hope that my audience has fun seeing the results.
