My Kauai vacation in 2007

Kauai basks amidst the sparkling blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, about 20 minutes by air from Honolulu. Formed some six million years ago, the island encompasses roughly 550 square miles and is the oldest and northernmost of the main Hawaiian Islands.
This lens about a vacation my ex husband and I took to Kauai in 2007.
We went in January. The weather there was sunny on most days, though it did rain.
It was my first time to the Hawaiian islands. I fell in love with this place. It is unique and unlike the mainland.

Na Pali Coast
Na Pali Coast was one of my favorite places to go. We went on a small boat of just 10 peoplle. It took 2 hours to get to the the area where Na Pali is which is only accesible by boat. The waves made it difficult to get onto the land. Once there I breathed a sigh of relief that the bumpy ride was over.On our way to Na Pali in the small boat we stopped and saw whales. When you are in such a small boat it can be unnerving to be so close to whales.
Here is a picture of the boat we went on

This is a picture of sea cave out boat was coming upon. I took this picture from the boat as we were coming toward part of the land. Our Captain took us inside that seacave.

Getting closer to the sea cave...

At this point we are in the sea cave. It was a cool experience to have.

Here I am on Na Pali

We saw sea turtles which is honu in Hawaiian resting on the beach at Na Pali
Snorkeling

We went to this beach a number of times and went snorkeling.
Here is my husband snorkeling or about to.

We used an underwater disposable camera and took some pictures of the fish

I bought one of these for my pictures.

Me in Kauai
This is me on one of the beaches there. It was fairly warm even though it was in January. It seems like we spent a lot of time driving on the two way road to and from town. We stayed in a condo in Princeville. See the beauty
There is so much natural beauty in Kauai. Here are some photos we took while there.
My husband took me to Kauai in 2007. It was the first time I had been to Hawaii, a place I wanted to go my entire life. Our good friends let us stay in their condo. We had a great time. We stayed in a town called Princeville. My husband and I bought snorkel gear and went snorkeling. I enjoyed seeing the beautiful fish. I did breathe in alot of seawater one time when a wave passed over my breathing tube. I can't say that part was fun.
We explored many different places on the island such as Waimea Canyon which resembles the Grand Canyon.
Here is a picture of Waimea Canyon.

While we were there we went to a few luaua's. You eat a pig cooked in the ground called Kalua. It is delicious! You get to see a great show after eating or during eating also. We went to a few different luaus on our 10 day stay. They had beautiful peacocks at the Smith family luau.
The water is so clear in Hawaii

Here we are at one of the luaus we went to. We went to two different ones. This one is put on by the Smith Family on Kauai. It was a great show and had delicious food.
This is a waterhole where the ocean would spray through a hole as the waves rolled in.

- I love Kaua'i! It is one of my favorite Hawai'ian Islands. It's too bad you didn't have time to do some hiking in the jungle inward from the Na Pali coast where the boat dropped you off. It is a truly magical place! Your beautiful photos took me back with some fond memories. % stars and I lens roll this lens to all of my Hawaii lenses.
BTW - Mahalo nui loa for stopping by my Haunted Hawaii lens and blessing it with your presence. It is greatly appreciated.
