Unrequited : Sad Love Songs from Indie Bands

Ranked #5,323 in Music, #147,335 overall

The Current Album - Mix'n'Match for Yourself

Update - February 20th 2008
Arguably more goth than indie, London After Midnight's Sacrifice just sounds mournful. To my ear it's like Sisters of Mercy meets the Mission in full on whining mode. But, for all that, totally brilliant!

As of right now, there are over  10 great sad love songs from an eclectic mix of (mainly UK) Indie and Pop/Rock bands.

Tracks from We Are Scientists, the Killers, Libertines, The Wedding Present and Sleeper all figure in the current tracklist.

The following is a guide to my personal choice, where to get them, and how to make the Unrequited Album for yourself thanks to Amazon, iTunes, and a color printer.

Fair Warning : The music is subject to copyright. You may buy it, put it on a CD (subject to licensing restrictions) and listen to it. You may NOT make copies for your friends, or for sale - that is theft. Don't pirate music; buy, and enjoy it.

Update - February 9th 2008
Just in time for St. Valentine : another great, but intrinsically very sad and desperately mournful tale of requited love becoming ... well ... unrequited. Blur - No Distance Left To Run alongside some of the others in the list, actually makes me cry inside. But I can't help putting it on at least three times in a row when I listen to the album. Sheesh.

Update - January 28th 2008
Added Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars and the Senseless Things - Too Much Kissing '93 (originally a B side on the Epic label).

If you want the MP3 for Too Much Kissing the band have made it available as part of their rare collection of sounds - Get it here; and stop by the site here. I'm too good to you...

Personally, I think that Spangle would have been a better Wedding Present track! Otherwise kudos on the selections!
