Hot air ballooning can be great fun but a minor glitch mid air can make the joyride fatal. If you are planning a ride on the hot air balloon you need to be well aware of the safety measures that you need to take when you launch the balloon. If you want to navigate the balloon then you need to see that you have access to certain safety equipments. If the pilot light goes out and the piezo ignition fails ensure that you have a flint sparker light.

Usually there is a redundant burner and fuel system consisting of two fuel tanks that are connected to two different hoses lighting two different burners.

This will help you to land safely even if any one of the system gets clogged. You will be able to land safely even if a fuel leak has disabled one of your systems.

You also need to wear fire resistant gloves that are usually made of leather or nomex. This will allow you to shut a gas valve if there is a leak and the flame is burning. You have to be alert and agile and stop the flow of the gas as soon as you can. Your agility will prevent a potential disaster. When going on hot air ballooning, you should make it a point to wear clothes that are made of natural fibers. If there is a flame your clothes will singe but will not burn.

If the balloon system that you are using hangs the burner from the envelope is it safer to wear helmets. Keep these things in mind and your hot air ballooning will be all about fun.
