Workwear: More Than Just Office Wear
It's that time of year again when a lot of us are thinking of those 'DIY' jobs at home. Well, if you're jumping into the DIY arena don't forget to dress appropriate for the job. Workwear is more than just office wear.
The Definition
The definition of workwear is "heavy-duty clothes for manual or physical work." When you see the word workwear you automatically assume it's apparel that you would wear at work. However, workwear is designed with safety in mind for men and women to wear while they are doing any type of manual or physical "work" (hence, workwear). It could be while you're doing a "diy" job at home such as; mending a fence, fixing the roof, installing a wood floor, etc%u2026 Safety is Key
Safety workwear is a must on any project or job you're doing. Not only does it save you a fortune in jeans, jackets and shoes but it drastically reduces your chances of being hurt! If you're going to be working with heavy objects, be sure to wear steel-toe shoes or boots. A good pair of Carhartt or Red Wing steel-toe boots will last you a lifetime. With today's technology and designs a good pair of work boots and/or shoes are lighter and extremely comfortable with lots of great styles to choose from%u2026steel-toe, waterproof leather, oil/slip resistant sole, removable footbeds. Be Seen - Be Safe
High visibility workwear is important if you run at night or maybe take your dog out for a walk late in the evenings. It's important for you to be seen easily. If you're not really into the "construction vest" look there are also high visibility jackets, hats and gloves that you could slip on and off quickly. The new lines of workwear out today benefit everyone from farmers, construction workers, loggers and welders as well as military, police and firemen. With quality, safety, comfort and fit as their primary concerns apparel companies are designing their workwear with both men and women in mind.
Just Do It
So whether you're building the world's largest tower, harvesting your own crops or doing a simple project at home don't forget your workwear. It doesn't make sense to wear unsuitable and unsafe clothing even for the smallest of jobs. And, be ready for whatever Mother Nature throws at you.Remember - It's better to be safe, than sorry!
