- I went to SAGE in Denver. The school was outstanding. I checked out a bunch of schools in the area. The difference was clear. SAGE's one-on-one training gives you SO much more driving time than the other schools that put a bunch of students in the truck and drive around all day. Plus, now that I've been an OTR driver for 2 years, all I hear is good stuff about SAGE. I do agree that there are a good number of videos, but I found them helpful (a little boring -- but hell, it's school!). Highly recommend SAGE.

- I had a good experience with Sage at Ivy Tech in Indianapolis. The ground school could use some work, but the range and OTR driving was excellent. I like the one driver only program. I had problems with my parallel parking, I could get it in about 1 out of 5 times. The instructor pointed out some different techniques of reference points, and now I can get it in 5 out of 5 times. The prep for the test (permit), we were pretty much on our own for that. I thought that Sage would prep us better, but was disappointed. The ground school was just basically reading out of a book. We did the quizes at the end of each chapter (35 chapters), and that gets you familiar with the truck and trucking techniques. I wish they would of let us keep the book, especially for the price you pay? In short, I would recommend this school; and give it an 8 out of 10 for a rating.

- A friend of mine is attending the SAGE school in Roxboro,NC. He is having a real tough time with the intruction. The whole day consists of non stop videos , followed by a quiz. nothing is explained , therefore , nothing is learned. The test for the learner's permit is hard because nothing was explained to him about the "pre-trip".and when time is spent out on the range , the instructor is busy telling stories of his hey-day as a driver; and when my friend has a question about how to operate the truck , he is told "Just practice , just practice".
He tried to get his money back (over 4k) and go somewhere else , but was told there was no chance. and another thing , since when does a trucking school administer the CDL test themselves? I think this is another steering wheel holder factory. Now I only have 8 1/2 years driving , but I do know this is NOT the way to run a trucking school. To call yourself a "EXCELLENT school " -appauling !!
I think a call to the N.C. DOT is in order.

- The longer I'm on the road, the more I appreciate SAGE. All of the driving time was one-one-one with the instructor. I attended during the winter and even got to do some mountain passes with chains! I haven't run into anytingon the road that I didn't get to do in school! SAGE was the best!!!

- SAGE IS AN EXCEPTIONAL SCHOOL FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BECOME A TRUCK DRIVER..EVEN THOUGH IN MY EXPERIANCE YOU WILL GENERALLY LEARN MORE FROM THE TRAINER THAT YOU ARE PUT WITH BY YOUR FIRST EMPLOYER, WHICH I DID, BUT AS FAR AS SCHOOLS GO SAGE IS THE BEST IN MY EYES..
