clothes make the pirate

Pirates of the Golden Age of Piracy were sailors and so they generally wore clothing suitable for the job of operating a tall ship. Most had been farmers, laborers, blacksmiths and such who hit on hard times or were pressed into service aboard ship.
olde tyme sailor didn't just stroll into Macy's, Ross's, or WallyWorld and buy something off the rack. Because, basically anywhere you might visit, there weren't any racks... it was all custom. From what I read of the time, most sailors made their own slops out of wore out sails, blankets, tarps and whatever else they scrounged that could be recycled, in more modern terms, upcycled into something they needed.

I admire that in a person

Carapuca

I just scored some cool material at the church, this hat is gonna happen !

carapucaHood is a kind of cap or hood of a conical shape and back to the period of the Inquisition, in which the condemned were forced to wear ridiculous costumes to attend the trials.
Além de usar uma túnica com o formato de um poncho , eles precisavam colocar sobre a cabeça um chapéu longo e ponteagudo, conhecido como carapuça.
Besides using a tunic shaped like a poncho, they had to put on his head a hat long and sharp, known as hood.
Daí a expressão "vestir a carapuça" ter se incorporado ao português escrito e falado com o sentido de "assumir a culpa".
Hence the expression "wearing a hood" have been incorporated into Portuguese written and spoken with the sense of "take the blame."

A palavra vem do italiano antigo, carapazza , e do espanhol caperuza .
The word comes from the Italian old carapazza, and the Spanish caperuza.
