Do you know who the real St. Patrick is?

Perhaps you have always associated St. Patrick with the celebratory icons like leprechauns, the luck of the Irish, four leaf clovers, pots of gold and excessive abuse of alcoholic beverages. But none of these images associated with his legacy seem particularly saint-like, so who was he? Who was this man we are supposedly celebrating every March 17th? That is exactly what I wondered. When I found out, I could not believe the mysteries I found. In fact, most of the things I assumed were true about him were in fact incredibly false. And the truths I discovered were intriguing.

Truth Revealed

What would you say if I told you that the man we celebrate every March as Saint Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland was not named Patrick, was never officially sainted, and was not even from Ireland. Pretty crazy stuff, huh? Yeah, I would think so too, except it's true. When I was doing a little research for an article, I uncovered all of these shocking truths and more. Click to read the full article and find out more crazy facts about this mysterious man and who he really was. It has a lot more information than I have room to include on here!

Reasons to Become a Fan of the Real St. Patrick

St. Patrick lived a very hard life. As a young boy, he was captured and brought to Ireland as a slave. When he grew up and escaped his captors, he returned to his home in England where he had a spiritual experience that would change the course of his whole life.

As he pursued holiness, God wove forgiveness in his heart towards his captors. He felt called back to the country that once enslaved him and he went there to free them through the truth of the gospel.

Although he was never officially sainted by the Roman Catholic Church, his work for the Kingdom of God has been widely validated. Despite evidences in his writings that suggest he often experienced homesickness for his own home country and family, he persevered for the holy purpose he felt called to fulfill.

It is because of his willingness to live his life as an answer to a higher calling in service to the same people who enslaved him that has earned him the honorary title of "patron saint".

) (Irish: Naomh Pádraig) was a Romano-Briton and Christian missionary, who is the most generally recognised patron saint of Ireland (although Brigid of Kildare and Columba are also formally patron saints)

Two authentic letters from him survive, from which come the only universally accepted details of his life. When he was about 14 he was captured from Britain by Irish raiders and taken as a slave to Ireland, where he lived for six...
