Easy Recipes for Salad Dressings

I love eating salads full of fresh ingredients, but to me, the salad dressing is the most important factor because it can completely change the salad's "personality." Here are the recipes for some of my favorite dressings. And the best part is this -- they all require five (or fewer) ingredients!

Zesty Lemon Dill Dressing

Ingredients:

2 cups mayonnaise
1/2 lemon juice
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup dried dill

Directions:

In a medium bowl, mix all ingredients. Modify ingredient amounts to taste. Chill before serving. Keep refrigerated.

Everyone's Favorite Honey Mustard Dressing

Ingredients:

1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice

Directions:

In a small bowl, mix all ingredients. Modify ingredient amounts to taste. Chill before serving. Keep refrigerated.

Tangy Yogurt and Mustard Dressing

Ingredients:

1 cup plain yogurt
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon Dijon-style mustard
1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon chopped fresh chives

Directions:

In a small bowl, beat together yogurt and lemon juice until mixture is smooth. Add mustard, parsley and chives. Modify ingredient amounts to taste. Chill before serving. Keep refrigerated.

Simple Sicilian Dressing

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

In a small bowl, mix all ingredients. Modify ingredient amounts to taste.

Creamy Raspberry Dressing

Ingredients:

1 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup raspberries
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons white sugar

Directions:

In a blender, combine all ingredients. Blend until smooth. Modify ingredient amounts to taste. Chill before serving. Keep refrigerated.

Basil Vinaigrette

Ingredients:

1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/2 teaspoon fresh basil
1/2 teaspoon fresh oregano

Directions:

In a small bowl, mix all ingredients. Modify ingredient amounts to taste.

Avocado Dressing

Ingredients:

1 large avocado, peeled and diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
8 ounces sour cream
1 (1 ounce) package french onion soup mix
2 tablespoons lemon juice

Directions:

In a blender, combine all ingredients. Blend until smooth. Modify ingredient amounts to taste. Optional: 1 tablespoon curry powder may be mixed in to make dressing somewhat "spicier." Chill before serving. Keep refrigerated.

Citrus Dressing

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons lime juice
2 tablespoons orange juice
1/2 clove of garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh dill

Directions:

In a small bowl, mix all ingredients. Chill before serving. Keep refrigerated.

Vinegar Dijon Dressing

Ingredients:

4 cloves of garlic, finely minced
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

In a small bowl, mix all ingredients. Modify ingredient amounts to taste. Keep refrigerated.

Orange Thai Dressing

Ingredients:

1/4 cup rice vinegar
5 tablespoons orange juice
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon minced ginger

Directions:

In a small bowl, mix all ingredients. Keep refrigerated.
