Headlines! The Most Important Part Of Any Sales Letter!
And boy are they hard...
How do I write a good headline for...
That right there is a question many of us ask ourselves over and over again each time we are presented with a new product, service... well basically anything.
How do I write a good sales letter headline?
It isn't an easy process, that much is for sure. There is a steep learning curve one must take on something that as first can seem so incredibly simple to the average onlooker!
I mean, when a customer comes to your sales letter and sees the headline, they think it's something you just came up with that was informative about your product. Little do they know the amount of struggle that went into creating something that seems to them so trivial!
As I'm sure you know, you've got to cross-test your headlines! Write a couple different headlines and have them rotate on your page and see which one generate more conversions. This is without a doubt one of the most important things for you to do. When you've got a headline that's increasing your sales letter read through, or your sales in general, you've got a winner! You can then change that one up slightly and continue to split-test, or continue to use it. Remember though, you can never do enough split-testing for your sales letter headlines! They are the lifeblood of your entire page!
Think about it. What does a prospect do when they first come to your page? Read the big headline staring at them, that's what! And what happens if they don't like it for some reason... come on, shout it out loud with me... THEY LEAVE YOUR PAGE!
That's right. Simple. Just like that.
So doesn't it make sense that your sales letter headline should be the most important part?
Thankfully, there are many psychological tricks that advertisers now use to cause people to look further into the page! We can learn from these tricks and make our headlines come alive to the prospect, and even have them read the entire page with complete interest without them even knowing what caused it!
That's the power of psychology my friend.
But, that's of course not the only thing to writing your headline.
You can't have some psychology stuff headline with no actual content in it that talks about what you're going to tell the prospect! You've gotta lead them on... make them want to know more. Answer the WHY question.
