A Salt Body Scrub Provides Exceptional Benefits

Salt body scrub might not be as popular as other body scrubs. This is a shame since salt body scrub has unique benefits that should not be overlooked.

We've all heard of body scrubs and enjoy their beneficial properties, both aromatic and physical.

Body scrubs have become popular for their ability to exfoliate and stimulate the skin giving it a healthy feel and appearance. It is a terrific way to care for your skin from head to toe.

Sea Salt Does More than Exfoliate

The ingredient used for exfoliation in the salt body scrub is sea salt. Sea salt is generally used in cooking and is made from the evaporation of seawater. It is a coarse salt that does a great job removing dead skin cells from the surface of the skin and its medicinal properties work exceptionally well in healing any inflamed areas. If you are prone to breakouts on your body or have scratches or dry irritated patches, you may find that a salt body scrub will provide just the healing properties you need.

Make Your Own Custom Salt Body Scrub

Making your own salt body scrub is a perfect way to get exactly the ingredients you want. Combine the basic ingredients and then add an essential oil to suit your taste at the moment. Body scrubs are easy to make.

A basic salt body scrub consists of sea salt, a liquid soap of your choice and essentials oils. You can also add a moisturizer if you like. A liquid soap is an essential ingredient to a salt body scrub as it prevents the salt from being too coarse against the skin. Some choices of liquid soap might include Aloe Vera, melted regular unscented soap or olive oil.

Choose Your Own Scent

The best thing about making your own body soap is choosing the scent. There are so many to choose from, but if you're new to the game consider the ever popular lavender and universally loved scent that relaxes the mind and body.

An excellent essential oil to use in a salt body scrub is sweet almond oil. It is a very light scent that is especially good for dry, irritated skin and has anti-inflammatory properties. If you have chosen a salt body scrub to help heal inflamed skin, using sweet almond oil will be just what you need.

Avoid Overusing Salt Body Scrubs

Body scrubs are excellent mixtures for keeping your skin healthy and for best results should be used on a regular basis. But it is important not to overuse them, especially when using a salt body scrub. Using a scrub 3 to 4 times a week works best.

- ¾ cup olive oil
- ¾ cup essential oil

Mix the sea salt and olive oil together thoroughly in a glass jar. Then add your favorite essential oil. Mix until well blended. Store it in a cold, dark place until you are ready to use it. Be sure and shake it well before each use.

Note: If you find that your salt body scrub is not as gritty as it should be, use less essential oil. It can break down the salt over time.
