What is the Salt Water Flush and Do I Need to Do It?

The Salt Water Flush is a big part of the Lemon Detox Diet.

To really get the best benefits from the detox a Salt Water Flush needs to be done each morning on an empty stomach (before you drink any of the detox drink).

It's designed to flush out all of the toxins that the cleansing drink has been working hard to release from your body throughout the day.

What is in a Salt Water Flush?

The Salt Water Flush only comprises of 2 ingredients but still many people get this wrong. The CORRECT ingredients for a SWF are:-

32 fl oz of Spring Water (not fluoridated tap water)
2 TEASPOONS of Sea Salt - pref non iodized, Grey Celtic Sea Salt is a good choice.

The reason I have capitalized TEASPOONS is that this is what so many people get wrong. I've lost count of how many times someone has complained that the flush isn't working or they feel rubbish - then they tell me they've added 2 tablespoons of salt to their flush.
Please make sure you get this right if you want a successful flush.

I Can't Drink the Salt Water Flush

It's making Me Gag

It isn't easy to drink that volume of water, let alone a salty version of it. Some people just can't do it no matter how hard they try and others, myself included, find that after the first couple of times, it becomes incredibly easy.

There are a few ways to help yourself listed below, plus an alternative if you really can't cope with the SWF.

Some Tips for Drinking the Salt Water Flush

Add the salt to warm water and imagine you are drinking chicken soup

Try drinking it through a straw to minimize the flavour in your mouth

Don't drink it alll at once, spread it over 30 mins (I prefer to chug it within 2 mins myself).

Focus on an object and keep repeating a mantra in your head whilst you drink. If you can focus on something else, you won't notice the salt water going down.

Is there an Alternative to the Salt Water Flush?

Yes there is!

If you absolutely cannot bear the SWF, then you can have a natural, laxative tea in replacement. A popular one in the USA is 'Smooth Move'.

This is the same tea as you would have before you go to bed. I personally can't stand the taste of the tea and actually prefer the flush.

The flush is the best option as it really gushes through and collects all of the imobilized toxins your body has produced the previous day. If you wake up feeling a bit rubbish then 99% of the time you'll feel like a million bucks after your salt water flush.
