G'day!
I'm still only a baby squid, but felt it was about time I expanded a little on my basic profile. I don't have a large number of lenses complete yet, but the list is growing and it doesn't hurt to have somewhere to showcase them all :-)
So without any further ado, read on to find out just who is this girl called Sammie and how did she end up on Squidoo?

How Did I End Up On Squidoo?
Sometime in 2006 I was reading about the blogging phenomenom and came across Darren Rowse's Problogger.net blog. An awesome blog produced by a fellow Aussie, I read as many of his posts as I could.
While following links from post to awesome post I came across a mention of a book called Unleashing the Ideavirus by some guy called Seth Godin. It sounded like a book I would be really interested in reading, so by the end of the following week I'd purchased myself a copy.
What an eye-opening read! From that book on I became a Seth Godin fan. I chased up his other books, read all the free ebooks and subscribed to his blog. It was only a matter of time before I came across Squidoo and in September 2006 I signed up.
A few days later I created my first lens, a resource list for a charity group I was involved with. It was a good learning experience but did not have a very large potential audience, so I don't think I quite got the idea of Squidoo's potential straight away.
It wasn't until May the following year that I created my second lens, A Goldmine of Journal Writing Prompts. This time I must gave gotten the recipe right because all of a sudden I started receiving traffic. What a buzz! People were actually visiting and using a page I created. Better still, they were clicking on my affiliate links.
Since then I've created the odd lens here or there, but haven't been as committed to it as I should have been. That is set to change in 2009 - my new years resolution is to spend the time on my lenses that they deserve and to create more quality content for my readers.
Here's to 2009 being my year on Squidoo!

Charities I Support Through Squidoo
I think it's great that Squidoo gives you the ability to support a variety of charities and to make a difference in someone else's life. All my lenses are set to donate at least 10% of royalties to one of my favourite charities. As well as this, my Apex Australia Resource lens and my groups all donate 100% to charity.
At present my favourite project to support is Room To Read. I also have a couple of lenses that support Save The Children.
It's so motivating to know that the more quality lenses I build on Squidoo and the more my earnings grow, the more I am also contributing to these worthy causes.

My Favourite Website - 43Things
List Your Goals, Share Your Progress, Cheer Each Other On
Since April 2005 the 43Things website has been my most favourite place to visit on the web. Barely a week goes by that I don't drop in at least once to check on my goals list. What is 43things?
The 43Things site allows you to put together a list of 43 goals you'd like to achieve. You can write progress entries on each of these goals, choose to do them as part of a team, receive encouragement from other members and mark goals off as you achieve them. Best of all, each day you receive a handful of "cheers" that you can use to cheer other members on.
Why is it my favourite?
Simple - it's motivating, it's inspiring, it's ever changing and it's social. I love the thrill of marking off a goal as complete, or even just reporting on my latest progress steps.
