Squidoo is a great place to promote your direct sales business.  Lenses are simple to set up, even for complete beginners, and Squidoo has what we like to call the "Google juice," meaning you'll see your well-designed lens indexed at lightning fast speed.

If you're looking for more information on what Squidoo is, start here.  If you want to get started building your own lens, read on!

What do you want your lens to do?

The first thing you'll want to decide when creating your lens is:

What will it do?

This isn't always as obvious as it sounds. Do you want people to go to your website to buy products? Do you want to use it for information? Do you want people to set up catalog or book parties? Do you want people to set up face-to-face parties?

Once you've decided what you want your lens to do, you can create modules that work towards this goal.

Direct Sales Resources

These lenses are all about tools you can use as a direct sales professional to promote your business and make more money!
Direct Sales Tools
Gobs and gobs of links to marketing tools and audio tools and photo tools and money management tools and more.
Direct Sales Talk
A great resource about the DirectSalesTalk.com website that features links and articles to help you promote your business.
Pro Party Plan
Articles and books to help you get organized and run a successful business from your home.

Product Promotion Sample Modules

This is just a sample list of modules you could use for your direct sales lens if your goal was to promote your products and encourage people to make a purchase online.
  • Write!
For each of your major products or product lines, include an image, information about the products, and selling points.
  • Make a List
Gift giving ideas, gift wrapping ideas, or alternative use ideas for the products.
  • Flickr
Some before and after shots of your products.
  • RSS
If you have a blog, link to it.
  • Link List
Links to your company website or other resources of your choice.
  • Guestbook
Great for client testimonials or to give feedback.

Party Booking Sample Modules

If the goal of your lens is to get people to book a catalog or face-to-face party with you, your lens will look a little different. Here is a sample layout for you to use:
  • Make a List
Top ten reasons why a hostess wants to hold a party.
  • Flickr
Photos of people having fun at past parties.
  • Link List
Link to the most popular items in your online catalog that hosts choose for their bonus gifts.
  • Make a List
Outline the details of your attractive hostess program.
  • Make a List
A list of fun party themes that a host can do for his or her show.
  • Google Maps
Where you live, so people can get an idea of your booking area.
  • Write!
A short biography about why you love doing what you do, and how to get started hosting a party.
  • RSS
Link to your blog if you have one. If not, start one. It's a great way to recap the fun people have at parties.
  • Guestbook
A standby that allows people to leave messages and say hi. Get your former hostesses to leave testimonials!

Recruiting Sample Modules

If the goal of your lens is to recruit new consultants and add to your team, you'll want to include modules and information that support the business side of things.
  • Write!
Tell the story of how you got started and why you love doing what you do.
  • Make a List
Top ten reasons you've stayed with the company.
  • Link List
Links to websites and resources that will help someone decide to become a consultant.
  • Flickr
Photos of you, your team, team meetings, products, seminars, shows, etc.
  • RSS
Your blog, where you share tips for working the business, booking more shows, and using the online ordering system (just examples).
  • Make a List
Steps to getting started, including time frames, financial commitments, time commitments, meeting dates, deadlines, etc.
  • Guestbook
Let people ask questions and leave you messages that you can answer online - a FAQ of sorts.

But but but - I can't decide!

Can't choose just one focus for your lens? No problem! Create all three, or more!

Squidoo lenses are most effective when they are focused to one topic. It keeps your reader on track AND helps you with SEO and LensRanking. But there is no limit to the number of lenses you could create using Squidoo.

Want to make a lens JUST on a brand new product line? Go for it!

Want one JUST for your team? Excellent! In fact, you could have everyone in your team create a lens for themselves and then put them in a group.

The possibilities are endless - these are just to get you started. :)

Was this helpful?

Hopefully this lens gave you a good idea of how to get started building your own direct sales lenses. Leave me a note to say hi!

I think this is a well done lens. The party plan direct sales people might want to create their own blog on blogger or wordpress and list their latest "parties" through an rss feed on their party plan lens.

Even if it is all very obvious things to do, to have a blueprint still is nice. And same techniques can be applied to all other lenses as well.

Hi, I think the info you have here is great. I started my first lens and had tons of questions. I have a direct sales mattress website. So my first lens targets sleep health and now I want to setup another lens to sell my products, now I have a clue! When you have time I'd love to get some feedback?
