• Avoid any negative thoughts. If you have some negative things to say
  about the deceased, this is not the best time to let it out. Give a positive
  aura and talk about the fond memories that you shared with the deceased.
  


• Pay a visit and drop by the funeral, even for just a few minutes. If you
  cannot make it, it would be nice to send flowers or to send a mass card.


• Make sure that you dress in an appropriate manner when attending a
  funeral. It is not always necessary to be in black attire, but pick
  something that is conservative. Stay away from bright colored outfits and
  provocative ones.


• During a wake, go to the deceased's family members first and offer
  condolences rather than socializing with the rest of the people present at
  the funeral.


• Approach the deceased and pay your respect. Offer a silent prayer.


• Avoid quarrels, arguments and confrontation during a funeral.


• If you are in a chapel or a church, make sure that you turn off your
  cell phones or other gadgets that would cause noise.


• During a ceremony, pay attention to the speaker and avoid chit chatting
  with your friends.


• Front seats or front pews should be dedicated to family members. For
  distant relatives and friends, you can sit on the rear pews.


• It is not advised to bring your kids along during a funeral. It is a
  solemn event and most children would create noise.
