Upgrading your Samsung Code handset from Windows Mobile 6.1 to 6.5 is easy. The following link is specifically for Metro PCS users and the Samsung Code SCH-i220 smartphone in particular. I would not recommend using it for any other handset or for US Cellular subscribers. The Samsung Code does not come with Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) installed as part of the program package - bummer. When I had the Samsung Blackjack II, the Windows Mobie 6.1 upgrade offered by Microsoft came equipped with Internet Connection Sharing - to the chagrin of AT&T. Internet Connection Sharing allows you to tether your mobile internet connection to a laptop or desktop, which is REALLY useful and cool for a number of reasons. But wireless providers who want to sell additional equipment for mobile PC internet lose money if you opt to just tether the internet from your phone. So, many smartphones loaded with Windows Mobile are missing the program.

Simply put, the Samsung Code comes with like, NO memory. As soon as you install Windows 6.3 and Java your memory is going to be shot, but the Code doesn't come with much free space to begin with.

Why? Lower grade phones have some drawbacks, and this my friends, is it for the Samsung Code.

So, as soon as you buy this handset, buy a microSD memory card, period. If you don't, you won't be able to fit much more than a couple ringtones and one app on this phone. An 8G memory card is sufficient for lots and lots of pictures, videos, and music - I use an 8G microSD card myself ;-)
