Sandboxes for Children
One of the best outdoor toys for children is a sandbox. Every child loves to play in the sand. If you don't live on a beach the next best thing is to get your child a sandbox. As a boy I spent hours playing in my backyard sandbox. A sandbox is fun when friends or siblings can join you. But, they are also great when no one else is around. My kids have always loved their sandbox. Soon we need to get a new one for the newest addition to our family.
All Kinds of Sandboxes
A sandbox can be as simple as nailing four pieces of wood into a square. Then filling it with sand. Or their are lots of wooden kits you can buy for more detailed sandboxes. But, for me the easiest seems to be to buy a plastic one with a cover. I definitely recommend some type of cover to keep water out and and to keep away animals and to try and keep bugs at a minimum. If your sandboxes doesn't come with a cover you can just get a tarp from your local hardware store.

Small Sandboxes
The Ladybug Sandbox holds about 100 hundred pounds of sand. This very cute sandbox can fit 2 children as long as they sit on the outside. It doesn't take up much room and one child can fit inside nicely.
The Turtle Sandbox holds about 150 pounds of sand and has a durable cover. We have this at my grandmothers house and it has lasted over 6 years with lots of kids using it. About three kids can comfortably use it while sitting around the outside. For the inside 1 child can fit, and maybe too if they are toddlers.
Large Sandboxes
The Kidkraft Backyard Sandbox Holds lots of sand. It has 4 seats and two storage compartments for sand toys. You need to put it together but, it is extremely durable and comes with a mesh cover.
Kettler makes very high quality toys so I would expect the same out of their sandbox. This has durable plastic sides and can hold 350 pounds of sand.
Sandboxes + Water = The Beach
Well almost, these are great for hot summer days
Little Tikes Butterfly Beach Sandbox and Wading Pool
The Little Tykes Butterfly Beach Sandbox is pretty small but, great for 1 to 3 toddlers. It has an umbrella for shade, a very unique butterfly shape and you can fill it with one bag of sand.
