Do you want to be a midwife?

What kind of midwife do you see yourself becoming? How will you get there?

It depends on where you are... the US? GB? In the US, some states permit getting a Certified Professional Midwife from NARM and that being the state's license. Other states, Florida, California and Washington for example, require more than the NARM exam, requiring 3 years of MEAC-accredited education (which is what NARM recommends as well).

Becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife requires the BSN and then a Master's in Midwifery. CNMs can practice in the home, birth centers and hospitals, whereas LMs and CPMs are relegated to homebirth only and a few birth centers sprinkled around the country.

I hope this helps!

How do you become a midwife other than getting a diploma of higher education and nursing, a 78 week conversation course in midwifery and a degree in midwifery?
