Sanibel Island

Only 12 miles long and 5 miles wide Sanibel is the only barrier island off the coast of Southwest Florida with an East-West point of reference in the Gulf of Mexico. Imagine seventeen miles of pristine soft white sand beaches to dig your toes in and then spend the afternoon searching for the perfect shell. Shelling is the number one passion of visitors from around the world on Sanibel Island. Because of the island's unique orientation, the Gulf scoops up all manners and types of shells leaving them there for your collecting pleasure.

Old Town Sanibel is the city's center and lives up to its name. The Islanders are well known for preserving Sanibel's natural habitat with over 60% of the island being designated a National Wildlife Preserve. Beaches, waterways, mangroves and wetlands are teeming with abundant wildlife around the island. It's probably one of the best places in Florida to see an alligator sunning itself on a golf course or an Osprey in search of its prey!

The Sanibel Island real estate market offers home choices that are terrific; seaside condominiums, Gulf front mansions, old restored Florida cottages. Essentially, almost any type of property you can imagine. And once you find just the right place, you'll quickly come to understand, a Sanibel Island home is a destination, a refuge, and a way of life here in Southwest Florida.

Captiva Island

Very upscale and immensely wealthy, Captiva Island is a quaint village featuring a totally casual ambience surrounded by lush, lush foliage and incredible beaches. Truly "tucked away", this is an island paradise. Only four miles long and about ½ mile wide with areas where the Gulf nearly meets the Bay, the small village of Captiva features every type of dining and shopping experience. Visitors and residents alike, all flock to the beaches each evening for sunsets and star gazing as there are no "lights" on Captiva, not even a traffic signal!

Captiva Island residents are conservation enthusiasts so nature freely abounds and in 1945 many parts of the island were designated as National Wildlife Preserves. With the areas archaic history that dates back to the Calusa Indians, there are 15 major archeological sites between Captiva and Sanibel.

The Captiva Island real estate market comprises only about 500 residences. You'll find hideaway mansions, renovated old Florida cottages and a mixture of all types of condos. There are no high rises on Captiva, as nothing is allowed to mar the famous sunsets. You see, Captiva is indeed a truly secluded tropical island paradise which makes it a highly desirable place to call home.
