Escape to Paradise

Santorini's group of islands includes Thera, Thirasia, Aspronisi, Palea and Nea Kameni and is located in the southern Aegean Sea, 200km southeast from Greece's mainland.
Santorini forms the southernmost member of the Cyclades group of islands.
About 200kms from Greece's mainland and the well-trodden ruins and urban grit of Athens and at the southernmost point of the Cyclades archipelago, is the Santorini group of islands. The islands consist of Thera, Thirasia, Aspronisi, Palea and Nea Kameni .
As you near Santorini, you are greeted by magnificent views of white-washed houses clinging precariously to the side of black cliffs in startling contrast to the vibrant cerulean blue of the sky. Surrounding this stunning vision are the sun-dappled waters of the Mediterranean; epic, endless and shimmering like a sea of polished lapis lazuli.
Each year thousands of visitors respond to the siren call of Santorini. Its history, nightlife and luxury beach hotels make the island a dream escape.

By Boat

Sail to Paradise

You can fly to Santorini (also known as Thira) from Athens with Olympic Airlines Aegean Air or take a ferry from Piraeus. The ferry is much better fun and you get to see lots on the way.

Timetables and routes for ferries are available on greekferries.gr.

You can also work your way by boat through the Cyclades, maybe Paros, (see parosweb.com), Antiparos, Mykonos to Naxos. From Naxos you can take a ferry to Kos to catch a flight home.

It is easy to get accommodation, especially in September when there are fewer crowds. You may find that you love an island so much that you will not want to move on. And watch the dates - the days have a way of melting into each other in the Greek islands.

Santorini has many spectacular hotels these days and you will be spoiled for choice. Some are expensive boutique-style properties and others are a reasonable price. It depends on your budget. Have a look at santorini.com and also hotels.com.
