She's currently the hottest brand name in politics. Sarah Palin's memoir, Going Rogue, was #1 on both the Amazon and Barnes & Noble bestseller lists weeks before its November 17 release. Clearly, people are interested in hearing what the former Vice Presidential candidate has to say. By December, it should be evident if Palin aspires to be part of the GOP presidential ticket in 2012. Does this matter to you? Is her popularity a flash in the pan, or will she figure prominently in the events leading up to the 2012 election? Imagine that you're sitting face-to-face with one of the most controversial and outspoken members of the conservative right in America.

Sarah Palin

A Few Facts Courtesy of Wikipedia

Sarah Louise Palin is an American politician who served as Governor of the state of Alaska from 2006 until 2009 and was the Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States in 2008.

Palin was a member of the Wasilla, Alaska, city council from 1992 to 1996 and the city's mayor from 1996 to 2002. After an unsuccessful campaign for Lieutenant Governor of Alaska in 2002, she chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission from 2003 until her resignation in 2004. She was elected Governor of Alaska in November 2006. Palin became the first female governor of Alaska and the youngest person ever elected governor of that state.

In 2008, Republican presidential candidate John McCain chose Palin as his running mate in that year's presidential election, making her the second female candidate and the first Alaskan candidate of either major party on a national ticket, as well as the first female vice-presidential nominee of the Republican Party. Since the defeat of the Republican ticket in the 2008 election, there has been speculation that she may run for president in the 2012 election.

Ex-Governor Palin

Palin resigned as Governor on July 26, 2009, with a year and a half remaining in her four-year term. A Palin aide was quoted as saying Palin was "no longer able to do the job she had been elected to do. Essentially, the taxpayers were paying for Sarah to go to work every day and defend herself."

What do you ADMIRE most about Sarah Palin?

GladlyMom says:

I admire Sarah Palin for her independt thought and conviction. She doesn't fit with the good ol' boys club that seem to make all the decisions in the Republican Party, but her stand on the issues that make America unique and great appeal to the largest majority of Republicans and Independents. She's a real fire cracker that inspires thought and debate.

BelmudezR says:

I think she would have been a good Vice- President!! She is a woman with a heart for America

cjsysreform says:

Bravery and charisma.

stargazer00 says:

She is down to earth and not a part of the corrupt Washington establishment.

tandemonimom says:

Common sense and real boldness!

Susan52 says:

I admire her not being afraid to speak up for what she believes. She has solid, conservative values and I appreciate that.

What do you DISLIKE most about Sarah Palin?

kitty222 says:

I sort of like her; she seems like a tough lady. She'd about have to be to have such good poise in the face of what the media's thrown at her. I'd probably like her better if I hadn't heard about the incident where she and some of her hunter friends killed some little wolf puppies. I love wolves!

sanawife says:

Sarah Palin is as polarizing a figure as one can be. She brings out the negative in any situation she is involved in. She is a fear monger, exploiting her supporters' fears and prejudices to further her ambitions, instead of fostering hope and goodwill. A true leader inspires the best in everyone. Sarah Palin does the opposite. Not to mention that she can't utter an intelligent sentence that hasn't been spoon fed to her.

lisadh says:

Ditto to everything mulberry and kab said. I also dislike the fact that she quit her job as governor. That - along with everything else about her - should make people think twice about wanting her to run for president.

cjsysreform says:

Her sentence structure is really odd. I have to wonder if she has some sort of language disorder... dyslexia, or something similar?

mulberry says:

I think she represents much of what is "ugly" in America. Close minded, rigid, poorly educated, self-righteous, pride before everything, quick to act, shoots her mouth off before thinking, little finesse...just pushy in the wrong way to get along in the world or make good sound decisions for the long term.

kab says:

Oh, and I also dislike that she accepted the offer from McCain knowing that it would put avoidable and harsh attention on unwed pregnant teenage daughter (I have no problem with the daughter, just the Mom who allowed her to be put all over the world's evening news).

kab says:

I dislike anyone who reads ALL newspapers every day....and people who can't name three.

Sarah Palin:

The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's "death panel" so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their "level of productivity in society," whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

Product Description She's a real-life American success story. A small-town girl who wasn't content to keep things small. In 1996, Sarah Palin was a city councilwoman who had set her sights on becoming mayor, despite unwelcome advice that as the mother of three young children, she might not have a whole lot of success in a political career. She proved any naysayer wrong in a hurry. Ten years later, by 2006, she was the youngest governor Alaska had ever had... and the first woman. Now, still only in her mid-forties and the mother of five, she is one of the best-known women in American politics.

Sarah Palin:

President Obama can try to gloss over the effects of government authorized end-of-life consultations, but ... it's all just more evidence that the Democratic legislative proposals will lead to health care rationing, and more evidence that the top-down plans of government bureaucrats will never result in real health care reform.

Awesome Lens...I've sort of been see-sawing about Sarah Palin since I heard about the wolf-puppy incident. I don't approve of people who would kill babies of ANY species! But if she runs for president, I might vote for her over Obama.

Dear Sarah Palin: You're interesting. I'm not sure what to make of you. I believe your skills are of the sort that are not easily quantified, but should not be underestimated. I don't agree with your political views, and honestly, sometimes you scare me. There are no "death panels," of course, but I think you probably know that. I wonder what sort of mother you are when no one else is watching.

Nice work! It's good to read a political lens in post-election times. There were so many before the election for both parties, but not recently. I have no doubt that this book is going to be huge. Palin, whether you love her or hate her, is an interesting person that people are going to want to get to know better (and need to know better if she runs in 2012). Thanks for featuring my lenses, too, I appreciate that.
