Sarah Palin is the Female Equivalent of Dan Quayle

Sarah Palin could be a heartbeat away from the presidency if we elect John McCain as President of the United States. Over the last eight years we've seen the Vice President run the CIA, craft the nation's energy and fiscal policies, and send the country into war. So we know who really runs the country. While Sarah Palin is no Dick Cheney, and we don't expect her to have the kind of backstage power that he has wielded, Sarah Palin will be second in command and next in line to run for the Presidency if John McCain wins the election. That should scare you.

Sarah Palin's health care "death panel" rant is "nuts" says Republican Senator

It gets big cheers among the faithful, but has no basis in fact

Sarah Palin, on her Facebook page
of all places, lashed out at the Health Care Reform Bill saying that her baby and her mother would need to stand in front of Obama's death panel to be judged on whether they were productive enough to warrant health care. I can't figure out if she is just stupid enough to believe that, or if she is purposefully lying for her own purposes. Here's an indepth look at how one might find death panels where there are none, and what other right-wing pundits are saying about it. Not surprisingly, many are echoing the fear-mongering and raising emotions to dangerous levels.

McCain's Choice of Sarah Palin is Insulting to Women

An original article by Brad Sylvester (used with permission)

When George Bush selected Dan Quayle as his Vice President, it was widely rumored that the choice was made because his advisors thought Dan Quayle's good looks would help secure the vote of women. He certainly wasn't chosen for his ability to spell, or his foreign policy knowledge (they really don't speak Latin in Central America, Dan). Now John McCain has chosen an inexperienced, and polarizing extremist woman, Sarah Palin as his running mate. It certainly appears that the choice was made in a blatant attempt to win the erstwhile supporters of Hillary Clinton who have, thus far, resisted attempts to realign them with Barack Obama. It is certainly very difficult to imagine that Sarah Palin would have been selected for Vice President if she was a man. Why? Because there are dozens of more qualified men for the position. Don't get me wrong, there are dozens of more qualified women as well. Unfortunately, Sarah Palin isn't one of them. The Republican thinking seems to be that these women just wanted to be able to vote for a woman, any woman, and that talent, experience, and being qualified for the job of President has no importance for women voters. John McCain's choice of the female equivalent of Dan Quayle is insulting to women and to all of America.
America deserves a second in command who can fulfill the duties of President for all Americans should that need arise. Sarah Palin is not that person. Hillary Clinton is a qualified candidate who happens to be a woman. Choosing Sarah Palin as a token woman on the ballot says that one's sex is more important than one's qualifications. The anachronism of quotas and token minorities on the ticket reminds us that John McCain is himself an anachronism with most of his ideas and policies as lost in time as his choice of Sarah Palin.
We've seen what happens when poor choices are made for Vice President (cough, Dick Cheney, cough) and it isn't pretty. Nor is it good for America. A Presidential candidate who makes a choice like Dan Quayle or Sarah Palin, shows that he puts other considerations before the welfare of the country, namely his own ambitions. This choice gives us not only a Vice Presidential candidate who is unfit for the job, but also points out John McCain's faults as well. John McCain is 72 years old, and, if elected, will spend up to eight years as president. Should his health fail during that time, Sarah Palin, the female version of Dan Quayle, will be running the United States of America. I can hardly wait for the vice presidential debates. Joe Biden against Sarah Palin. That should be entertaining. I just wish that John McCain had considered more than entertainment value when he decided to choose Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential running mate. I suppose it could be worse, John McCain could have picked Vicki Iseman to be his running mate.

Some Interesting Commentary on McCain-Palin

Op-Ed News Pieces about the McCain-Palin Ticket

Find out what the people who write the news have to say about Sarah Palin and John McCain and the suitability of either to be President of the United States.
George F. Will Says...
Lifetime charter member of the conservative pundits club, George F. Will had some very bad things to say about John McCain this week after his "Shallow" comments about the banking crisis. Will said John McCain was unsuitable for the presidency. Read all about it!
McCain Calls for Timeout from Walking to Chew Gum
John McCain on Wednesday asked his opponent in the presidential race, Barack Obama, to suspend his campaign while they worked on the economic bailout. Apparently taking a page from the Jimmy Carter playbook of not leaving the Rose Garden until the hostages come home, McCain has said he is going to leave the campaign trail to focus on the economic bailout package. By the way, the $700 billion price tag for the bailout would equal more than $9,000 for your family of four. That's right -- your family is being asked to pay $9,000 to help out the Big Boys on Wall Street who are trying to foreclose on your house. -

Beauty Pageant Skills
Do you remember the "maps, such as" speech by Miss South Carolina? Compare that video to Sarah Palin's Katie Couric interview here. The two are very similar. It honestly looks like Sarah Palin was treating the questions from Katie Couric as if she were being quizzed for a beauty pageant. Her answers are full of filler and little else. Sarah Palin agrees with everything Katie Couric says even when Couric asks both sides of the same issue...
McCain Thinks He's Done Enough
McCain apparently thought he did enough to help the bailout package along because he decided to go to the debate after all and never did "suspend his campaign" since his ads were still playing all over the country. By the way, did you know he "suspended his campaign during his last Senate run as well. It was well recieved by voters then so he thought he'd try the same thing on a national scale in an obvious political ploy.

Make Sure Your Vote is Heard

No matter what the polls say, we need every single vote, especially yours.

No matter which candidate you prefer in the upcoming election, it is absolutely critical that you get out and vote. Polls may show a decisive lead for one candidate or the other in yoru state, but we've seen how close these thigns can be in each of the last two elections. Don't leave it up to the Supreme Court or some county supervisor to make a judgement call on which candidate is going to run this country for the next four years. Please go out and vote. Make the decision of the American people loud and clear so there is no mistake about it. This is too important a decision to leave to someone else. Also, consider helping to encourage others in your community to vote as well.

Palin is the political equivalent of a department store mannequin: Posed, empty-headed, dolled up and installed in the front window for no other reason than to draw attention to whatever cheap garbage the shopkeepers are hawking at the moment. Your lens is dead-on. Welcome to my favorites.

Your point here is well taken, I made the connection when she was nominated. It shows the contempt that McCain has for women (that and some of the things he is recorded saying about his wife) there are Republican women who are qualified, and she isn't one of them.

Bush 1 thought that a good looking running mate would get the female vote and McCain went under that same delusion. Women aren't that dumb.

90% of what she says is attacking someone else and what little she says about herself often turns out to not be true.

I'm not promoting her as vice president, just making an opposing viewpoint available to those who might be interested. She may need to fall back on the writing thing after the election, after all...

it's amazing how thin the vail is between what we believe to be true and what isn't. i believe most American's have come to the conclusions that you have. Only it's seems odd to say what you say about Mrs. Palin, and then be promoting her stuff. Call me crazy?

Palin is far more experienced than Obama in the executive post. (I am far more experienced than Obama in that post as are millions of other Americans.) So, does anyone think that the democrats pushed him through so they could have black man running. That's never mentioned unless you don't like Obama and then your labeled as racist. (I would, however, vote for Colin Powell) The VP is chosen to bring more votes in, pure and simple. No one really ever expects them to take the office even though it happens. Age should not be the problem as other presidents have passed in their early years, like Kennedy. I like Palin and think that her attitude is refreshing.

This is an excellent analysis! We do not need more pitbulls in our nation's leadership. We've had enough of that in Bush ("I am the decider"), not to mention the totally mean-spirited Cheney.
    Thanks for your eloquent assessment.

Feeding the Lipstick Besmeared Pig

An interesting take on the "Lipstick on a Pig" argument

Who's the lipstick besmeared pig?
Here's a different view of the Lipstick on a Pig argument. He said, she said. Does any of this help us decide if Barack Obama or John McCain will make a better president. Do we really need to root around in the mud again during this election cycle?

Sarah Palin Needs Lessons on the Economy

She doesn't understand the companies that guarantee half of all mortgages in the US. The problem with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is that they had grown "too expensive for the taxpayer," she said. These companies were run as private entities and were not taxpayer funded at all... The take-over will change that going forward for a while, but that has nothing to do with the cause of the problem.
