Introduction to SAS 9.2 Graphics Templates

SAS 9.2 was released in March 2008, and the main interest for me is the new production version of Graphics Templates. This facility allows users to design and generate high quality standardised graphs with minimal effort.

Holland Numerics have been developing ready-made Graphics Templates that you can buy now, and can also build Graphics Templates for you to your own specifications.

Your chance to get a head start with your SAS 9.2 Graphics Templates

Buy a ready-made template, or order a made-to-measure one from Holland Numerics, with full instructions for using it and SAS code that you can update and run yourself.

The Graphics Templates require a licence for SAS/GRAPH 9.2, and will work with standard, or your own, ODS styles, to give you repeatable and high quality graphics with the minimum of setup.

Prices for the ready-made templates are GBP 100 (including VAT, if in the EU), and for the made-to-measure templates are GBP 250 (including VAT, if in the EU).

Line Plot template key

The basic Line Plot template includes:
  • a linear scaled x-axis,
  • labels on both axes,
  • "error" bars to user-supplied positions above and below plot symbols,
  • up to 3 title lines,
  • up to 3 footnote lines,
  • up to 3 vertical reference lines with labels,
  • up to 3 horizontal reference lines with labels,
  • optional counts legend row for each group associated with the grouped line plot (maximum 4 recommended, but only limited by readability of legend and graph).

The template number is specified as follows:

  • 100 = counts legend inside the top of the graph area, with the graph expanding to fill this space if no counts are supplied,
  • 200 = counts legend inside the bottom of the graph area, with the graph expanding to fill this space if no counts are supplied,
  • 315 = counts legend in 15% below the x-axis, with the space left blank if no counts are supplied,
  • 320 = counts legend in 20% below the x-axis, with the space left blank if no counts are supplied,
  • 325 = counts legend in 25% below the x-axis, with the space left blank if no counts are supplied,
  • 330 = counts legend in 30% below the x-axis, with the space left blank if no counts are supplied.

See the samples below, which were created using the SAS-supplied ODS style called "Rtf". Using different ODS styles will change the fonts, line colours and backgrounds to match any table and text reports created using the same styles.
