Michael Savage: Really a Sheep in Wolf's Clothing?

Ranked #21,581 in Culture & Society, #435,398 overall

A Short Bio

Michael Savage is the pseudonym of Michael Alan Weiner (born March 31, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY), a controversial conservative radio host and author. He holds masters degrees in botany and anthropology, as well as a PhD in nutritional ethnomedicine.

As Weiner, he has written a number of books on herbal medicine and homeopathy. His unconventional titles include Getting Off Cocaine and The Taster's Guide to Beer. Under his radio name (his legal name is still Weiner), he has written several books dealing with conservative politics, beginning with his namesake in 2003, The Savage Nation.

His nationally syndicated radio show, The Savage Nation, is broadcast from San Francisco and syndicated throughout the United States. Savage is often  compared to conservative hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

(Biased?) Coverage by the San Francisco Chronicle

Michael Currently Lives in San Fran

In this author's opinion, this City By the Bay probably reminds Savage of his beloved New York. Below are some articles from the San Francisco Chronicle, the city's paper with the widest circulation. This paper doesn't easily tolerate Savage's on-air antics.
Savage says he's sorry -- but stays fired
Talk show host insists epithets not aimed at people with AIDS
Immigrant advocates demand radio station fire host for remarks

Savage claims autism (which is being diagnosed in increasing numbers) is overdiagnosed. Most of the children are just "brats", he says.
