Savannah Cat Information - Savannah Cat "Kills" Her Feathery Toy

Here's proof that Savannah cats can be just as "wild," playful and fierce as ordinary house cats, if not even more feisty. That toy's not going to last long against this cat.

Savannah Cat Information - Characteristics of Savannah Cats

Adult Savannah cats are the largest of the recognized breeds of cats and can get up to 32 pounds. Their build is similar to a Cheetah's, with long legs that are often higher than their spine when they are sitting. They have long necks and heads that are longer than they are wide.

To be officially recognized as a Savannah cat, the specimen must have at least three generations of Savannah cat to Savannah cat breeding in its pedigree and at least four generations removed from a serval ancestor. To insure the distinctive spotted coat, breeders will often breed the serval to a spotted breed of house cat like the Bengal or Egyptian mau.

Savannah Cat Information - Savannah Cat Personality

Savannah cat owners have reported that their pets actually have a personality like a dog's, including a sense of loyalty toward humans they trust. They are intelligent and can learn to come when called. They are very playful and, as you can see in the first video, will even growl in mock ferocity when they play. Unlike ordinary house cats, Savannah cats enjoy water and some owners have reported taking a shower with their pet. They are energetic and, like any pet, you should be careful when introducing them to young children. If you have your Savannah cat outdoors, a leash is recommended as they are adventurous and can run off.

I think they're very extraordinary! I have no cats, only a pug dog that I adore. But Savannah cats are different, and I like the difference.

Nope. Give me an ordinary cat any day.

TravelingRae says:

I like whatever cat I can find at the shelter who needs a good home. If it were a Savannah, then I'd take it home!
